The Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Digital Learning is implementing Skyline: a PreK-12 digital curriculum for Chicago Public Schools. This digital curriculum provides each student and family in CPS with equitable access to high-quality, engaging, and culturally relevant learning materials.
Job Summary:
The part-time/temporary Skyline Office Support role will assist with the day-to-day operations of professional learning within the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Digital Learning (CIDL), focusing on Skyline professional learning implementation. Responsibilities will include payment database management and cleanup, regular check-ins with CPS Payroll to collaboratively facilitate payment disbursements and monitor completion of payment processing, outreach and communication with CPS teachers, and interacting as a liaison with other CPS offices, department heads, outside agencies, and schools. This part-time/temporary position will be compensated for time worked on an hourly basis. The work schedule for this role will consist of an estimated 20 hours per week for an anticipated period of 9 months beginning in October of 2023 and ending in June of 2023. Due to the part-time/temporary nature of this work, this is not a benefit-eligible position. This role will report to the Manager of Professional Learning.
The part-time/temporary Skyline Office Support Role will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the upkeep and accuracy of the Professional Learning payment database
  • Maintain regular communication with CIDL Instructional Core Professional Learning Specialist(s) and CPS payroll staff to facilitate payment disbursement and monitor the processing of payments to CPS staff for attendance at professional learning sessions
  • Maintain accurate records of professional learning attendance and credit disbursement through Learning Hub, the CPS professional learning platform
  • Facilitate ongoing thoughtful, professional outreach, support and communication with CPS teachers and stakeholders regarding participation in professional learning sessions
  • Collaborate with CPS offices and content teams to provide logistical & operational support for all city-wide and district professional learning sessions/events sponsored by CIDL, such as booking spaces, preparing materials, tracking attendance, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the part-time/temporary Skyline Office Support Role must possess the following qualifications:
Education Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent, required
  • Bachelor's, or advanced degree from an accredited college or university, preferred

Experience Required:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in administrative support and customer service roles, including the following, is required:
    • Experience working collaboratively with and providing consultative support to a team of professionals.
    • Experience in roles with responsibility for managing multiple tasks at once in a high-volume work environment
  • Experience in a position providing operations, budget, or payroll support, preferred
  • Experience working in education, preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years of the above experience may be considered in combination with a preferred degree.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills; capable of managing multiple tasks/projects at once, driving them to completion and successfully meeting expectations.
  • Ability to use a range of technology and digital tools, including but not limited to spreadsheets, (specifically Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel), as well as other tools/programs offered through Microsoft and Google; familiarity with or ability to learn Oracle and Kronos.
  • Capable of success working independently with supervision and as a member of a collaborative team
  • Ability to self-direct, problem-solve, and identify tasks or situations requiring escalated support

Conditions of Employment
As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:
  • Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency - Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district. The Chicago residency requirement does not apply to temporary/part-time positions, however, all CPS employees must be residents of Illinois.
  • Be Fully Vaccinated Against COVID-19 - Unless approved for a medical or religious exemption, all employees are required to be up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccinations, including boosters, and to submit proof of vaccination to the district within 30 days of hire. "Up-to-date" on vaccination is defined as being at least two weeks past all primary vaccine doses and any applicable boosters.
