A Shipping Clerk will be responsible for fulfilling the customers' needs by utilizing various means of communication including email, phone, and face-to-face interaction.
Responsibilities
- Creates BOL’s, COS, COO’s any docs needed for outbound shipments
- Check-in and out truck drivers ensuring drivers provide accurate load information
- Communicate and ensure drivers clearly understand company policies
- Interface with other departments as necessary (i.e., quality control, sales, purchasing, corporate)
- Ensure outgoing shipments meet and match order requirements noted within the line items and special instructions
- Provide exemplary customer service while delivering shipments to required customers
- Accounts for sealed trailers upon arrival and departure
- Ensure all documentation is accurate and pallet tags given to you by loaders match what was ordered
- Maintain files and records of all inbound and outbound shipments to appropriate online databases (i.e., QuickBase, Famous, etc.)
- Schedule appointments, answer phone calls, photocopy documents, scan, send emails, type documents, and enter data
- Work directly with both federal and county inspectors during the inspection process
- Handle multiple inquiries and requests from internal and external customers
- Ensure proper documentation is given to truck drivers transporting export orders and email or scan documents to border officials
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Previous Shipping Clerk experience required
- Experience and other training or certification may be substituted for education
Skills
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks while sitting or standing for extended periods throughout the workday
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Ability to maintain a high level of physicality for prolonged periods of work sitting or standing
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus
- Strong computer skills
