Job Description
As a Sheet Metal Operator, you will play a crucial role in fabricating and installing Sheet Metal components for roofing projects. Your expertise in Sheet Metal fabrication, knowledge of roofing systems, and commitment to quality craftsmanship will contribute to the success and durability of our roofing installations.
Responsibilities
1. Sheet Metal Fabrication:
- Operate Sheet Metal fabrication equipment, such as shears, brakes, and rollers, to cut, bend, and shape Sheet Metal components according to project requirements.
- Read and interpret project plans, drawings, and specifications to determine the dimensions, angles, and materials needed for Sheet Metal fabrication.
- Measure, mark, and layout Sheet Metal using measuring tools and templates.
- Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy and precision of fabricated Sheet Metal components.
- Maintain an inventory of Sheet Metal materials, including aluminum, steel, and other metals, and requisition additional supplies as needed.
2. Quality Control and Inspections:
- Perform quality control checks on fabricated Sheet Metal components and completed roofing installations.
- Inspect Sheet Metal components and roofing systems for defects, damage, or deviations from project requirements.
- Identify and address any quality issues promptly, collaborating with the project team to implement corrective measures.
- Follow company and industry standards for quality craftsmanship and roofing system installations.
- Document and report any quality concerns or non-conformities to the appropriate personnel.
3. Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and use safety equipment as required.
- Participate in safety training programs and proactively identify and address potential safety hazards.
- Follow company policies and procedures for handling and disposing of materials, tools, and equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, ensuring compliance with safety and cleanliness standards.
4. Additional Responsibilities:
- Handle additional responsibilities and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Sheet Metal fabrication and installation, preferably in a roofing or construction environment.
- Proficiency in operating Sheet Metal fabrication equipment, including shears, brakes, and rollers.
- Familiarity with different types of Sheet Metal materials, such as aluminum and steel.
- Ability to read and interpret project plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Strong mathematical skills for measuring, layout, and calculations.
- Knowledge of roofing systems and components is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively with other trades.
- Team player attitude is a must.
- Physical stamina and ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to safety.
