**General Purpose
**
Sets up and operates the laser machine to fabricate the metallic parts to dimensional specifications by performing the following duties:
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities
**
Reads job routings, sketches, CNC program, CAD drawing and blueprints for product specifications such as material type, material gauge, size of sheets and tooling and dimensional tolerances.
Checks lens alignment and selects proper tip size and adjusts focal point, if required, for material being processed.
Verifies the correct thickness and size of parts or sheets according to the shop paper, sketch and blueprints before loading the machine.
Initiates action to have the CNC program for the part number to be processed transferred to the machine.
Positions sheets or parts on the laser table and initiates the laser sequence and observes operation of the machine.
Checks processed parts angles, length, width and hole size (diameter, shape, appearance, etc.) with appropriate measuring tools and makes visual comparison of the [art to the sketch/drawing.
Initiates adjustments if required to meet product specifications and acquires first piece inspection approval.
Produces balance of parts required following appropriate batch sorting and inspection procedures.
Records time and piece count and verifies accuracy of shop routing estimates and piece count order requirements.
Maintains excellent attendance to eliminate production disruptions.

**Education and/or Experience
**
Three to six months related work experience or training on the job with a qualified person who has performed this function and has a thorough knowledge of the equipment and its total functions.
High School education or equivalent.
