The Charlotte Inn is the only Relais & Chateaux property on Martha's Vineyard. The Terrace restaurant at The Charlotte Inn offers exceptional Fine Dining - highlighting regionally sourced, seasonal ingredients, expertly prepared.

Being “Behind the Times on Purpose” , the inn prides itself on being old-fashioned, where tranquility and gracious hospitality meet Edwardian elegance. Tucked away on quiet South Summer Street in Edgartown village, the inn is a block away from downtown. The inn and restaurant embody a gloriously simple way of life, with impeccable service that promotes a sense of relaxed calm.


Job Description


The Terrace at the Charlotte Inn is the island's only true fine-dining restaurant, tucked away on a quiet side-street in the heart of historic Edgartown village. The elegant, conservatory-style dining room is filled with polished silver and brass, antiques, crisp linens, Limoges china, and fresh flowers. Utilizing only the finest ingredients both locally and from around the world, we are committed to providing the highest quality of comfort & service. Currently, we are seeking professional servers with fine-dining experience, and this is preferably a full-time, seasonal position. Ideally, applicants would at least be available from early May through the end of October, as this is high season (although the restaurant does stay open year-round). The Terrace comfortably does an average of about 60-65 covers, so there is a necessity for precision, excellence, and determination for every guest to have a memorable & first-class experience. All staff are responsible for helping with a variety of restaurant operations, and this would be a great opportunity for someone at any stage in their career. Tremendous possibility for growth in the company and a possibility of housing.


Qualifications

  • Previous experience in fine-dining is required
  • Must be willing to learn, and strive to meet Relais & Chateaux standards
  • Must be able to communicate across departments & work cohesively with others in the restaurant, inn, housekeeping, etc. to ensure all facets are operating at highest level possible
  • Must have positive attitude & overall cheerful personality
  • Must be a team-player with excellent attention to detail
  • Must have neat & clean professional appearance plus polite & composed demeanor
  • Must be punctual and possess time management skills
  • Knowledge of wine preferred & huge plus
  • Hours include weekends and holidays
