ServiceTitan is seeking an exceptional Senior Payroll Manager to join one of the fastest growing tech startups in Southern California, backed by the best VC firms in the SaaS space. This position will report to the Assistant Controller and will enjoy a high level of visibility and impact to our rapidly-growing startup. The Senior Payroll Manager is responsible and manages all activities related to payroll for US multi-state and Canadian organizations, plus global PEO providers.
What You'll Do:
Manage and direct a payroll team in various remote locations to handle all regular, commission, bonus payrolls on a timely basis, ensuring all wages/earnings are appropriately paid and taxes, garnishments and benefits deductions are withheld and in compliance with all state, local and region-based laws.
Collaborate with People Ops, Compensation and Benefit teams for the design, development, testing and implementation of payroll related changes, policies, and procedures.
Monitor new labor trends, state, and federal labor and employment laws and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
Oversees the compilation of payroll data such as hours worked, taxes, and from time sheets and other records.
Responds to employee inquiries concerning pay, benefits, and use of timekeeping systems.
Manages the team responsible for processing employee statements including earnings, deductions, etc.
Oversee the process on new deductions for garnishments, withholdings, liens, and other payroll related deductions.
Ensures compliance with all company policies, government regulations and reporting requirements and that payroll tax payments are in compliance.
Work closely with the accounting team to address accounting transactions for posting.
Continue to enhance and maintain all payroll internal controls, policies, and procedures.
Assist IT and HR in managing the implementation and maintenance of payroll and payroll related systems.
Support the implementation of payroll for newly acquired entities/companies for the Company.
Monitor and oversee all internal and external audits related to payroll, including workers compensation audits, and payroll tax filings.
Document payroll process and manage internal controls in compliance with the Company’s Sarbanes Oxley initiatives.
What you'll need:
- Minimum Ten (10) years in multistate and payroll supervisor/manager capacity with a focus in multi-state tax experience along with local tax experience in a multi entity environment.
- Bachelor’s degree and CPP accreditation
- Hands-on experience in processing payroll in Workday with an integrated HRIS system is required.
- Thorough understanding and prior experience with design and implementation of payroll processes and policies, systems, internal controls, and risk mitigation.
- Proven experience resolving complex payroll matters and evaluating risk.
- Passion for excellent customer services and well-developed customer service skills
- Solid skill in using application with Excel (power pivot, tables)
- Ability to leverage technology that continuously improves and adds efficiency to payroll systems, services, and processes.
- Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills across all levels of an organization.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively and efficiently with management and team members.
- Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with other accounting functions as well as aligned departments.

ServiceTitan is committed to fair and equitable compensation for all of our employees. We thoughtfully consider a wide range of factors when determining individual compensation. The expected salary range for this role for candidates residing in the United States is between $126,000 USD - $182,000 USD. Compensation for candidates residing outside the United States will vary by location and the specific salary range will be discussed during the hiring process. Actual compensation for an individual may vary depending on skills, performance over time, qualifications, experience, and location. In addition to the base salary, the total compensation package also includes an annual bonus, equity and a holistic suite of benefits.
