Family law firm inside the loop in Houston is seeking a Senior Paralegal, in Office to become a part of our team!
Paralegals are assigned files with supervision by the managing attorney(s). If needed, other staff members will provide assistance on overflow projects
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research to support legal proceedings
- Assist with the drafting and preparing legal documents, correspondence, notices and affidavits
- Correspondence between attorneys, court staff and clients
- Draft and organize discovery request and responses
- Establish and complete inventories
- Assist in deposition preparation, mediation preparation, hearings and trial preparation,
- Occasional attendance at mediation, hearings or trial,
- File management, record and store client information
- Liaison between clients, attorneys, mediators, process servers, and court clerks
- Collaborate with a network of experts – forensic accountants, financial planners, investigative services, psychological professionals, and parent coordinators
- Investigate facts to help in the negotiation of legal disputes
Qualifications:
- 5 – 10 years with experience in family law
- Familiarity with legal research; Weslaw and formbuilder
- Ability to prioritize and multitask with 6- 10 cases
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Deadline and detail-oriented
- Proficient in WordPerfect, Word, Excel, Outlook, and My Case
- Master in E-filing and E-recording.
- Familiar with Texas Family Law Practice Manual and other programs necessary
- Spanish speaking is a plus.
- Experience in contested probate is a plus.
