Role Value Proposition 

Analysis and execution of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and other strategic projects within MetLife's Global Corporate Development, Mergers & Acquisitions team. Serve as the central point of coordination for M&A transactions, including management of due diligence processes, the coordination of internal and external cross-functional teams, development of valuation model and financial analyses, and preparation of presentations for senior management.

 
Key Responsibilities  

  • Project management of M&A transactions to maximize results throughout the deal lifecycle, including day-to-day coordination and management of deal teams across business units, regions and functional areas, and external advisors
  • Perform detailed and comprehensive financial valuation analysis and pro forma analysis of target opportunities
  • Prepare memorandums and presentation materials for senior management and Board of Directors for transaction review and approval processes with responsibility for clarity and accuracy of content
  • Manage due diligence processes for M&A transactions, including interaction and coordination with buyers or sellers and their advisors
  • Conduct research and develop marketing materials, including information memorandums and management presentations for divestitures
  • Review deal related transaction agreements and support negotiations
  • Collaborate in the development of group infrastructure and maintenance of the standards and methodologies utilized in the acquisition or divestiture processes
  • Assist in proactively researching the financial services industry with focus on insurance and asset management markets, understanding the competitive environment and identifying potential opportunities
  • Partner with business units to advise them on inorganic growth strategy and execution of deal opportunities
  • Perform and report on a wide variety of finance and strategy projects

 
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills 

  • 3-5 years relevant experience performing M&A activities in a corporate or investment banking setting required
  • Direct M&A and corporate finance experience required
  • Experience in financial services industry, particularly in insurance and/or asset management desired, but not required
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, accounting or a related field required, MBA a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, including the ability to build complex financial models to analyze sophisticated transactions, is required
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas in a concise and effective manner
  • Demonstrated competency in corporate finance and accounting
  • Experience leading large, geographically diverse, cross-functional teams in complex projects
  • Intellectual curiosity about the industry and MetLife's role within it
  • Strong attention to detail in all aspects of work product

The wage range for applicants for this position is $121,400 to $197,400. This role is also eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. MetLife offers a comprehensive benefits program, including healthcare benefits, life insurance, retirement benefits, parental leave, legal plan services and paid time off. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
