Job description

The Senior Lease Records Analyst will be responsible for the review, set up, and maintenance of oil and gas leases and land contracts per acquisitions, drilling program, land calendars, and incoming title.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and set up oil and gas leases, rights-of-way, unit designations, and other land agreements in P2.
  • Maintain and update agreements per incoming amendments, releases, ratifications, etc.
  • Tract out and update agreements upon first production.
  • Monitor and update agreements according to the monthly Pay, Obligation, and Expiration calendars.
  • Analyze payment and obligation provisions to calculate and set up minimum royalty payments, options to extend, delay rentals, water use, shut-in, and surface damage payments.
  • Maintain agreements for current mineral and working interest ownership in conjunction with division order analysts and landmen.
  • Create new BA owners in P2 for land check requests and new agreement setups.
  • Identify and resolve data discrepancies in P2 Land and digital files.
  • Liaise with GIS, Accounting, Land, and IT groups as necessary for daily tasks and special projects.
  • Resolve and respond to owner relations inquiries directly related to Lease Records.
  • Generate various land reports including those for ownership, acreage, provisions, and cross-referenced wells.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, majoring in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Energy Management, or equivalent land experience, required.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of Lease Records experience, required.
  • Direct Land Administration experience in and knowledge of Texas, required.
  • CPLTA certification is a plus.
  • Proficiency in P2 Land, highly desired.
  • Proficiency in ThoughtTrace, LandVantage systems, preferred.
  • Experience with electronic files and digital data management.
  • Experience reporting acreage reports from P2 Land (preferred) or other integrated Land software systems (required).
  • Good research, math, interpersonal communication, and written communication.
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects timely to comply with contractual and statutory requirements.
  • Able to respond to and resolve owner communications and issues (calls, emails, letters).
  • Able to draft business letters and emails to effectively communicate issues and solutions to royalty interest owners.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of land including:
    • Lease, royalty, and joint interest partner concepts.
    • Laws and regulatory provisions related to oil and gas extraction.
    • Contract administration.
    • Monthly land calendar.
    • Understanding of tracts and depths.
    • Understanding of ownership and interest types.
    • Understanding of chaining title to identify original leases for current deck owners.
  • Strong knowledge of oil and gas operations.
  • Advanced analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills most specifically MS Outlook, SharePoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Possess competency in accurately entering data into integrated Land software systems.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to uphold relationships with various organizations across the company as well as outside agencies.
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to determine priorities in alignment with the business needs.
