Job Description:
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Land Records Analyst to join our team. The primary focus of this position will be on managing and analyzing our Land Records database, as well as organizing due diligence work related to land contracts. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of legal knowledge, research skills, and technical proficiency.
- Oil & Gas or Midstream Pipeline Land Records Experience with professional references required.
- 1099 Independent Contractor Role: Must have your own LLC or Corporation.
- Flexible work hours: Three days in the office (Downtown Houston), two remote days working. Half-day Fridays.
Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze various land contracts, including but not limited to rights of way, deeds, surface site leases, and assignments.
- Conduct surface title research using online resources such as county public records indexes, county tax offices, and other title plants.
- Perform cursory title searches to fill in gaps or locate specific documents within the Land Records.
- Utilize navigational skills in ArcGIS or similar software to analyze spatial data and visualize land parcels.
- Maintain and update the Land Records database with accurate and current information.
- Assist in the organization and coordination of due diligence efforts related to land transactions and projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with project objectives and timelines.
- Provide support and expertise to stakeholders regarding Land Records and related matters.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices related to Land Records management.
Qualifications:
- REQUIRED: Strong familiarity with reading and analyzing various types of land & ROW contracts, particularly in the context of title and oil and gas transactions.
- Proficiency in conducting surface title research using online resources and databases.
- Experience using ArcGIS or similar GIS software for spatial analysis and mapping.
- Prior experience working with land databases or similar systems is preferred.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis and documentation.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Flexibility and adaptability to evolving project requirements and deadlines.
