Position: Senior Accountant

Job description

As a Senior Accountant you will be responsible for various tasks including month-end closings, general ledger reconciliations, management reporting, preparation of financial statements and special projects

Daily Senior Accountant responsibilities include:

• Month end accounting close
• Perform various accounting tasks for clients
• Manage and prepare period end reports
• General ledger reconciliations
• Comply with appropriate and relevant principles and standards
• Assist in preparation for client’s external audits if required
• Monthly financial reporting and general-purpose reports for the purpose of internal and external parties.
• Supervise, train, and mentor junior staff
• Communicate progress of engagements, issues, and resolutions to clients and supervisors through written and verbal correspondence
• Anticipate problem areas of engagement and develop procedures to address relevant issues; keep supervisors informed of important developments and recommend solutions

Senior Accountant Qualifications and Job requirements include:

• Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• Will be required to work on client sites in Nassau, Suffolk & NYC as well as in Suffolk office.
• Attentiveness to detail – this is the most important requirement for this position.
• Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task and be well organized
• Fundamental knowledge of GAAP
• Experience with not-for-profit accounting
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word (other MS Office applications helpful, but not required)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Governmental accounting experience a plus but not required
• Minimum of 3 years experience
• Combination of public and private experience preferred

Pay: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
