This position exists for the purposes of maintaining financial accounts and records for Flexsteel, and to complete all other projects and tasks assigned by immediate supervisor.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparing and posting of journal entries.
  • Reconcile subsidiary ledgers to general ledger.
  • Preparation and reconciliation of various balance sheet and intercompany accounts.
  • Monitors cash balances in all accounts to determine when funds should be moved.
  • Manage fixed asset additions, transfers and disposals including maintaining SOX compliant documentation.
  • Enter approved Authorization for Expenditures.
  • Support Account Receivable collection, reconciliation, and verification.
  • Prepare functional reports for internal and external usage.
  • Calculate and file states sales and use tax and file the returns with each state.
  • Coordinates state sales tax audits as necessary.
  • Assist in all aspect of US Federal and State Tax filings.
  • Calculates monthly expense report accruals.
  • Maintains property tax records, including valuation, tax rate and estimated payments. Accrues monthly property tax expense.
  • Maintains right-of-use asset schedules and calculations.
  • Processes intercompany cash transfers.
  • Assists Accounts Payable department on an as needed basis.
  • Documents updates and changes to standard work procedures.
  • Assist in compiling year-end audit work papers.
  • Work with external auditors, tax advisors and other consultants on an as-needed basis to prepare PBCs and assist with analysis and explanations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial and market information.
  • Supports internal control efforts by diligently monitoring internal control requirements for assigned duties.
  • Assist with special projects, workflow process and system improvements as necessary.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE
and QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in either Accounting or Finance with minimum of three years of experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Sarbanes-Oxley rules and regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts to calculate figures and amounts.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables.
  • Must possess advanced computer skills with Microsoft Excel (pivot/lookup tables); intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups and employees of an organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
