Description
Under the limited direction of the Assistant Director of Finance - Controller (Controller), the Senior Accountant performs high-level accounting that requires interpretation, research, analysis, and professional judgement for the City of Lee's Summit, including maintaining the general ledger and preparation of financial statements in conformity with governmental GAAP and GASB. Ensure statements and reports are prepared and filed as required for local, state and federal authorities. This is a lead position that assists the accounting staff with work product and compliance.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university required; advanced degree preferred;
Current CPA, CMA, or CPFO desired.
Five years of accounting experience required*.
Governmental accounting/auditing experience is preferred but not required.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Starting salary is DOE.
