About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25.

Army DCIPS positions apply Veteran's Preference to preference eligible candidates as defined by Section 2108 of Title 5 U.S.C., in accordance with the procedures provided in DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 2005, DCIPS Employment and Placement.
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of progressively responsible intelligence related security experience equivalent to the GG/GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes (1) reviewing, analyzing, and providing guidance and assistance relating to security policies and procedures; and (2) resolving security problems and violations in support of at least three of the following security programs: Personnel Security, Information Security, Operations, security, Communications Security, Industrial Security, Foreign Disclosure, and/or Security of Special Access Programs (SAPs).

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Security Administration, Industrial Security Administration, Industrial Management, National Security Studies, Security Management, Political Science, International Relations/Foreign Affairs, Geography, Systems Management/Operations Research, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Engineering (Job Specific), History, Electronic Technology (Job Specific), and Law field of study. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.Education: Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, substitution of education for experience is permitted if you meet the education requirements under Qualifications.
