Requirements
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Student Health Administration
- Provides basic first aid and care for minor injuries and illness and chronic health conditions according to a detailed protocol
- Takes vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration rate, pulse ox, and blood pressure);
- Contacts parents of students who need to be picked up from school according to established school health services protocols or as directed by the supervisor;
- Contacts EMS according to established school health services protocols or as directed by the supervisor;
- Maintains records (sorting, filing, reviewing for completeness);
- Assists with screening programs;
- Sends routine notices to parents;
- Orders and maintain health office supplies
- Serve as a Trained Diabetes Personnel after receiving appropriate training
- Coordinates COVID-19 response for the school
- Other duties as delegated by the supervisor in accordance with the Georgia Nurse Practice Act (Board of Registered Nurses)
Operations
- Collaborates with operations team to support with needed operations functions for the school
Compliance
- Helps ensure school compliance with federal, state, and local school district guidelines and requirements
- Ensures timeliness, accuracy, and thoroughness of medical documentation including monitoring of immunizations
QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements
First and foremost, the School Nurse must share Sankofa Montessori's commitment to working together to provide a culturally responsive, child and family-centered Montessori education to ensure that all of our students develop the knowledge, skills, and agency to have a life of purpose. Additionally, for this position, we're looking for candidates that possess a combination of the following skills:
- Previous experience in health care - certified by the state as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), or Certified Medication Assistant (CMA) is required
- Formal first aid training through the Red Cross or a similar program, or may have gone through a campus or district specific orientation and training related to school health such as medication administration, or specific health conditions, such as diabetes, asthma, and epilepsy.
- Detail-oriented with excellent follow-up and follow-through
- Excellent organizational skills, time management skills and ability to prioritize
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, demanding work environment
- Excellent customer service; strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional work ethic; very reliable and responsible
- Flexible, willing to learn and take on new responsibilities
- Professional, friendly, and adaptable personality; strong ability to provide high quality services to a wide variety of students (e.g. age, gender, ethnicity, socio-economic)
- A "make it happen" attitude at all times, especially when faced with adversity
- You have the ability to multi-task, perform well under pressure, and complete tasks/projects effectively and on-time
- Strong learning orientation and desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
- Unwavering commitment to Sankofa Montessori's mission and willingness to go above and beyond to meet the needs of Sankofa Montessori students, families, and staff
- Can complete physical demands of the role (including standing and walking for extended periods and lifting heavy objects up to 40 Ibs)

Sankofa Montessori's compensation philosophy is to pay competitively for the PK-12 charter market to ensure equity across our institution. The salary for this role is $30,000-$45,000 annually. Sankofa Montessori is committed to internal pay equity throughout our organization. Because of this, we do not negotiate salary offers outside our salary bands.
