Position Overview:
Trinity School seeks a qualified School Nurse to join our team and play a vital role in fostering a healthy and safe learning environment. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive healthcare services, promote student wellness, and collaborate effectively with the school community. The School Nurse is accountable to practice in accordance with policies and practices as identified by the Georgia Board of Nursing, National Association of School Nurses (NASN), and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This is a salaried exempt position, not eligible for overtime, under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
The anticipated start date for this position is mid to late August 2024.

Education and Training Requirements:
Valid Georgia RN license.
Proficiency in standard computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, internet).
Prior nursing experience in pediatrics, adolescents, elementary school, community health, or mental health (preferred).
Current CPR, AED, and first aid certification (ability to instruct these skills a plus).
Training in identifying and caring for concussions, asthma, and anaphylaxis.
Essential Requirements, Duties, and Responsibilities:
Clinic Management:
- Manages the school clinic, providing first aid, treatment, and medications to students and staff on campus and during summer camp and school sponsored events and field trips (Nurse does not go on field trips).
- Maintains and secures health-related supplies and equipment (first aid kits, AEDs, medications, etc.).
- Develops and monitors procedures for maintaining adequate supplies in all school first aid kits.
- Develops and maintains policies, procedures, and work standards for the school clinic.
Student Care:
- Develops and implements school health management protocols for students with special needs, including medication administration.
- Ensures copies of care plans and emergency medications are accessible to teachers.
- Monitors expiration dates on student-provided medications.
- Provides ongoing health counseling to students, parents, and school personnel.
- Collaborates and communicates with other healthcare professionals, parents, teachers, and staff to deliver optimal care.
- Conducts follow-up evaluations on students as needed.
- Maintains records of immunizations, health findings, and other relevant data.
- Utilizes the GRITS system to monitor immunization status and advise parents on required vaccinations.
Health & Safety:
- Assists in health-related disaster preparedness and emergency service plans.
- Manages school health records according to regulations, ensuring data security and privacy.
- Promotes and assists in controlling communicable diseases through immunization, surveillance, and reporting.
- Works with staff to establish and maintain an accident/injury prevention program.
- Assesses health and safety needs of the school environment in compliance with OSHA guidelines, Bloodborne Pathogen Control Plan and other interventions as needed.
- Communicates air quality and environmental alerts to the Trinity community.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Supervises non-medical personnel assisting with student care.
- Assists the Trinity community in health and wellness education
- Refers injured employees to Human Resources for Workers' Compensation.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge through training and continuing education.
- Independently handles all School Nurse responsibilities and school reporting in absence of additional nursing staff, primarily during summer months.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Work Hours
The nurses typically work the early or late shift. The position being filled is for the late shift. Standard hours are from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM Monday-Thursday and 9:00 AM-4:00 PM on Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for special events, and specific hours can be discussed with the supervisor.
This is a 12-month position. Summer and Holiday hours and days may be altered at the discretion of the Head of School.
When necessary, the employee must be flexible in the ability to work more than her/his regular daily or weekly schedule to complete duties.
