School &Community Programs Pathways Exploration Intern, Part-Time (Non-exempt)

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Pathways Exploration Internship (PEI) is a 12-week (40 hours per week) career training program from May 15 - August 7, 2024. This program, for current college students and early career professionals, provides paid exploratory opportunities for individuals who are considered historically excluded from the arts. We define historically excluded groups as people who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), LGBTQIA+, veterans, and individuals with neurodiversity. The intention of this program is not to provide a career pathway specifically within the Denver Art Museum, rather to support and understand the different career pathways within a museum while developing skills necessary to pursue a career in the arts and cultural field.

A commitment of 32-40 hours per week over the course of 12 weeks is requested; hours are relatively flexible between the hours of 8 a.m. 6 p.m., MondayFriday with occasional weekend hours during community events. This is a paid position, but credit may be available through your academic program. Please contact your institution directly for eligibility.

This position contributes to the programs and initiatives of the School & Community Programdepartment. Experience the many aspects of this department with a combination of projects and daily responsibilities. You will gain on-the-job training, professional development, and a variety of networking opportunities. There is an opportunity to contribute to an individual project that culminates in a presentation and celebration at the end of the summer.

This position reports to the Manager of School and Community Programs.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the facilitation of Community Programs like Creative Caravan, Sensory-Friendly Morning, Art Lives Here, and Community Access tickets.
  • Assist the School and Community Programs team and the IMLS grant team to conclude the program development period and assist in the pilot program transition.
  • Work with School and Community Programs Coordinator to identify, vet, and recruit future Early Childhood Art Lives Here community partners.
  • Supporting the Lifelong Learning & Accessibility department and Family & Community Programs department as needed.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Skills, etc.):

  • Pursuing a degree or a recent graduate (maximum of two years post-graduation).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with diverse communities.
  • Experience with and/or strong commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.

Pay: The hiring hourly rate for the position is $19.00.

As a condition of employment, employees must present proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 on their first day of employment or receive an exemption or other reasonable accommodation due to circumstances protected under federal or state law that prevent the employee from being vaccinated. Employees are also mandated to receive a booster within 6 months of being fully vaccinated.
