Colorado Veterans Community Living Center at Fitzsimons
Colorado Veterans Community Living Center (VCLC) at Fitzsimons is a beautiful 180-bed, skilled nursing facility serving Colorado's veterans. We strive to honor and respect those living in our community through companionship and person-centered care while providing a comfortable and safe place to live. At Fitzsimons, we provide long-term and short-term rehab, have a secured memory care neighborhood, and are conveniently located on the medical campus with UC Hospital and the Aurora VA Medical Center. Fitzsimons celebrates a low 18% staff turnover rate and substantial longevity among staff.
The purpose of the work unit is responsible for supporting all functions of the Nursing Department. This includes maintenance of policies, procedures, staffing plans, acuity patterns, resident medical records, fiscal records, employee records related to timekeeping and scheduling, as well as accurate transcription of physician orders, scheduling resident appointments, coordinating modes of transportation, and maintaining meeting minutes and schedules.

Description of Job
This is a regular, full-time, in-person position at Fitzsimmons Veterans Community Living Center
Shifts are typically Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 04:30 pm
May be required to cover CNA shifts as needed, which may include evenings, nights, and/or weekends
Please note: These working arrangements are subject to change.
This position has the responsibility of scheduling all direct care staff (24/7) at appropriate levels as indicated by fluctuating acuity levels and individual staff competencies. This position will support accounting services by maintaining accurate and timely payroll records for all nursing staff. Additionally, the individual in this position will utilize complex computer software systems in the completion of scheduling and payroll functions and will be utilizing word processing in the maintenance of other records. It also the responsibility of this individual to monitor all nursing licensures and certifications, track employee performance, review due dates, and ensure compliance for all nursing employees.
Primary Job Duties:
Scheduling
  • Develop and maintain an accurate long-term schedule for direct care nursing staff that reflects the needs of the residents and the competencies of the nursing staff.
  • Utilizes concepts of fiscal accountability, creativity, and flexibility in the day-to-day adjustment of
    the schedule in response to fluctuations in staffing or resident care needs.
  • Reports daily hours per patient day to the Director of Nursing and the nursing home administrator.
  • Assures that staffing does not exceed budget. Schedules staff for competency
    training, etc.
DON ADON Support
  • Supports the Director of Nursing and Assistant Director of Nursing with Administrative support as needed.
In-house staffing pool support
  • Contributes to the development of an in-house staffing pool designed to ensure available resources to cover unexpected scheduling or staffing events.
  • Maintains credentialing records for agency use.
  • Assures all other staffing options have been eliminated before the utilization of agency nursing. Must have Director of Nursing pre-approval
Monitoring
  • Accurately monitors call-ins and vacation time. Informs the Director of Nursing when a pattern of call-ins or excessive call-ins is identified.
Maintaining Files and Other Duties as Assigned
  • Maintains accurate nursing staff profiles to ensure current licensure/certification of staff, current immunization or health screening as appropriate, current records of all nursing staff performance appraisals and due dates, and revisions to timekeeping system to include leave requests, absences, missed punches, etc., utilizing Kronos timekeeping System and Achieve Software.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
Minimum Qualifications:
Three (3) years of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant or in an occupational field related to direct care and/or workforce scheduling.
Substitution:
A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to three (3) years.

Special requirements:
  • A current, active CNA license is required to perform the essential duties of this position

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3 years of work experience as a CNA, Scheduler, or combination thereof.
  • At least 1 year of Customer Service
  • experience in an office/work unit management role
  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite, and/or Google Platform (Docs and Sheets)
  • Process implementation and creation skills
  • Ability to multitask regularly
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficient analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time-management skills
Conditions of Employment:
  • A full background is required which includes, a CBI name check and fingerprint check, ICON Colorado court database, Medicare fraud database, Reference Checks (Skill Survey), Professional License verification (licensure requirements), Drug Screen, CAPS (direct contact with adults - Mental Health Institutes, Regional Centers, Veterans Community Living Centers)
  • Pre-Employment Physical/Tests: must be willing to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test and other vaccinations required by the state and facility.
  • Shift Work: Eligible for and may be required to work evening or weekend shifts, holidays, voluntary or mandatory overtime
