Saw Operator

POSITION SUMMARY

Set up, operate and/or tend sawing machine to cut or trim metal material.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Inspect and measure work pieces to mark for cuts and to verify the accuracy of cuts, using rulers, or caliper rules.
• Set up, operate and/or tend saws that cut or trim metal material to specified dimensions, such as circular saws, or band saws.
• Adjust saw blades, using wrenches and/or rulers, or by turning handwheels or pressing pedals, levers or panel buttons.
• Monitor sawing machine, adjusting speed and/or tension and safely clearing jams to ensure proper operation.
• Mount attachments or tools onto production equipment.
• Follow traveler instructions, procedures, drawings or verbal instructions.
• Maintain clean and orderly work environment.
• May perform routine maintenance of equipment.
• Demonstrates ability to appear for work on time, follow directions from a supervisor, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures, comply with company policies and procedures, goals and objectives, and accepts constructive feedback.
• Other duties as assigned, requested or needed.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or General Education Development (GED).
• 6 months machine operation experience or equivalent of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to operate equipment and controlling operations or systems.
• Ability understand and follow standard operating and safety procedures.
• Ability to use hand tools and measuring devices and power saws.
• Ability to handle, install and position material.
• Read and comprehend verbal and written instructions.

Pay Rate: The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type, and length of experience with the industry, education, geographic location, etc.
