- Lead general services staff or others who move, pickup, and/or deliver equipment, supplies, and other materials. Arrange access for furniture moves. Lead relocation of office furniture, equipment, lab materials, etc. Install modular furniture and objects such as framed art on walls. Deliver and install rental equipment and furniture. Repair custom equipment, as needed. Make recommendations regarding rental agreement needs.
- Assist supervisor with scheduling, supervision, and management of department.
- Assist with remodeling projects, including demolition. Dispose of furniture and materials according to university and state standards and guidelines.
- Lead others setting-up and breaking-down event equipment and furniture.
- Assist with or perform maintenance and/or repair for gas/diesel powered vehicles and related equipment. Determine repair needs for vehicles.
- Operate forklifts and other heavy moving equipment. Operate specialized tools (e.g., jackhammers, pallet-jacks, etc.) as required.
- Facilitate small facility improvement projects including minor carpentry, painting, landscaping, lighting, mechanical, and/or plumbing as dictated by event load.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
The Qualifiers:
- Education: High School Diploma
- Experience: 3 years
- Expertise:
- Experience moving furniture and general maintenance
- Experience supervising and guiding other employees
- Experience driving 1.5 ton trucks
- Demonstrated ability to learn city and state building codes, OSHA rules and regulations, University standards, and other requirements for workplace safety
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Valid CA driver's license required. Position will participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System. A copy of DMV record will be required as a final condition of employment. For more information please visit the policy website.
What We Prefer:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management, Recreational Studies, Event Management, or related field
- 4 years of experience
- Experience operating handheld power tools and shop/construction machinery
