Job Description


This role requires a highly motivated and experienced accounting professional with a track record of success overseeing global Accounting Operations. In this leadership role, you will develop and mentor your team, oversee ERP systems and controls, partner with other business functions on projects, lead corporate initiatives towards process improvement and transformational projects to achieve best in class results, and develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.

This position is best suited for an accounting professional who possesses strong communication, organization, technology and leadership skills as well as enjoys working in a challenging, fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the financial close and consolidation process to ensure timely and accurate preparation and recording of financial transactions, account reconciliation, financial flux analysis and schedules for management reporting.
  • Manage the monthly close processes including consolidation, FX revaluation and translation, publish consolidated results, monitoring close status and issue resolution.
  • Responsible for managing corporate ERP system including GL master data, maintenance of chart of accounts, GL system roles, financial statement report structures, external systems interface to GL and upload processes.
  • Manage foreign exchange process including multi-currency system configuration and process monthly FX revaluation and translation.
  • Partner closely with tax team to provide various accounting support on tax related activities including transfer pricing, legal entity reorganization and other tax initiatives.
  • Identify automation opportunities while proactively engaging and collaborating with accounting transformation team to build from concept to execution various scalable and transformational processes as well as to support new business initiatives.
  • Lead business validation process to produce accurate and timely consolidation of worldwide financial results in accordance with US GAAP while ensuring compliance to SOX financial controls.
  • Act as global accounting lead on accounting system and process architecture including new developments and on-going maintenance for harmonization across global entities.
  • Provide strategic guidance and mentor global teams, including the accounting global shared service center.
  • Guide and motivate a team of Accounting professionals to grow their career, including development of technical and presentation skill sets.
  • Work with external auditors during quarterly, interim and annual audits.

Qualifications


REQUIRED:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Finance/Accounting (or equivalent experience) with knowledge of US GAAP with 10+ years of overall experience
  • Active CPA license
  • 6+ years of managing a team.
  • Experience in corporate accounting leadership position at large multinational technology company
  • Demonstrated experience with process and system automation.
  • Experienced in leading cross functional projects and related management presentations.
  • Solid knowledge of ERP systems (preferably Oracle and SAP)
  • Working at companies with $10 billion plus in revenue and/or 50 plus operational subsidiaries
  • Consistent record of accomplishment of establishing relationships with cross-functional business partners
  • Real passion for continuous improvement of systems and processes

Compensation & Benefits Details

  • An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
  • The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York. This range may be modified in the future.
  • You will be eligible to participate in Western Digital’s Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance. Depending on your role and your performance, you may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan. Please note that not all roles are eligible to participate in the LTI program, and not all roles are eligible for equity under the LTI plan. RSU awards are also available to eligible new hires, subject to Western Digital’s Standard Terms and Conditions for Restricted Stock Unit Awards.
