TITLE: Safety & Wellness Program Intern
LOCATION: 263 West 38th Street 6th Floor New York, NY 10018
START DATE: May 15 - August 15, 15 hours per week, minimum
DURATION: 3-4 Months
REPORTS TO: Safety & WellnessCoordinator
Supervision MeetingSchedule: Weekly
BACKGROUND: International Rescue Committee (IRC)responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive andrebuild their lives. At work in more than 40 countries and over 20 U.S. cities,the IRC provides resettlement, education and empowerment support to refugeesand displaced people.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Keep thorough and accurate case file documentation in IRC's database
- Collaborate with other ICM interns and support the development of a Community
- Resources Map through desk review and outreach activities for mental health services
- Provide outreach and administration support for Safety & Wellness workshops in community and IRC New York office locations
- Assist in providing referrals to appropriate mental health services and supports; accompanying clients to appointments as needed for support
- Collaborate with Safety & Wellness Coordinator to administer Refugee HealthScreener-15 (RHS-15) to newly arrived refugees
- Keep all digital files up to date and create new digital client files as needed
- Communicate client concerns and potential challenges to Safety & Wellness Coordinator
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
Prior experienceand/or interest working with refugees and immigrants preferred.
Our preferred languagesare Spanish and Ukrainian/Russian
Additionally, we arelooking for candidates that are in MSW programs or Masters Level Psychologyprograms.
Excellentcommunication and interpersonal skills.
Must be flexibleand reliable to accommodate client needs.
