Brook Lane's Inpatient Hospital
FT positions available - 3-11:30PM and 11PM- 7:30AM
Seeking a rewarding position in the mental health field? Brook Lane Health Services is seeking full and part-time Safety and Security Personnel to help support our locations. Duties to include: provides Safety and Security for Brook Lane employees, property, clients, patients, and visitors; acts to prevent theft, damage, harm, and injury. Brook Lane is a leading provider of mental health treatment and education in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintains visibility in location during entire shift
- Uses verbal or de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts
- Responds to patient escalation events, restraint, and seclusion incidents in the hospital setting.
- Assists in restraining individuals who present a safety risk as clinically determined by an RN or physician in accordance with therapeutic intervention programs in hospital setting.
- Ensures employees and visitors have proper credentials for accessing buildings (ID badges or passes)
- Inspects, secures, and records all patient belongings upon entering the building and ensures that the belongings are returned upon discharge or exit from the building (hospital setting)
- Issues and collects radios to inpatient nursing staff on each unit
- Responds to disruptive situations as needed (angry visitors, suspect person, etc.) as an interim measure prior to calling law enforcement
- Records relevant shift-related activities in Security Log
- Transports patients as needed
- Assists with 15 minute checks of patients
- Provides 1:1 patient coverage as assigned
- Assists with patient & family visitation monitoring
Qualifications:
- High School Degree or equivalent required; Associate degree in related field preferred
- Prior safety/security experience in a healthcare or long term care setting preferred
- Ability to remain calm during high stress events and handle unpredictable crisis situations
- Experience working with the public; demonstrates excellent customer service skills
- Valid and current driver’s license in the state of residence
- Strong verbal de-escalation skills to avert conflict
- Must be able to pass a Therapeutic Intervention Program (TIP) training course upon hire and twice annually thereafter
Must maintain physical fitness standards based on the physical demands of the job; position includes Frequent standing, walking and climbing stairs, lifting, getting on/off the ground or floor.
May be subject to adverse and hazardous working conditions, including violent and physically aggressive acts of others. Must be able to run, run up a flight of stairs, and defend oneself or others against assault
Must be at least 21 years of age
