Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff, patients, students, and visitors.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of life safety code.
- Knowledge of NFPA fire codes.
- Minimum of two yrs management/supervisory experience.
- Associate degree in a related field required, bachelor degree preferred.
- Command of the English language, verbal and written.
- Ability to delegate both authority and responsibility.
- Skill and effectiveness in educating and training employees.
- Familiarity with healthcare Emergency Preparedness, including security, safety, HAZMAT, OSHA, NIMS, HICS, HVA, CMS, TJC, and other hospital accreditation criteria.
- Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800.
- First Aide and BLS certification (current) or willingness to receive training.
- Must complete a Therapeutic Restraint Training successfully.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the coordination and implementation of Brook Lane general safety standards to assure compliance with Joint Commission (TJC) expectations and OSHA standards.
- Monitors the performance and effectiveness of fire protection systems including arranging fire drills and employee education/awareness related to building and equipment safety.
- Participates in EOC Rounds.
- Reviews Incident Reports regarding general safety issues in a timely manner (as assigned by the Risk Manager), leads accident investigations as directed by SLT or HR and develops improvement plans to correct safety violations.
- Collaboratively develops and maintains Brook Lane safety policies and procedures. Follows Brook Lane process for policy and procedure revision and approval.
- Serves on a variety of committees as requested including the safety Committee. Serves as chairman of the EM sub-committee and The Workplace Violence sub-committee.
- Assists the department/program directors in developing safety protocols as needed.
- Manages Access Control Systems (access cards) in coordination with Human Resources and IT.
- Responsible for collaborating and cooperating with IT staff related to surveillance camera project plan activities and electronic door lock project plan activities.
- Responsible for management of metal detection equipment and other security-related equipment.
- Responsible for effectively creating and implementing Hospital security personnel staffing schedules.
- Responsible for ensuring effective staffing resources for all hospital security personnel shifts through designated resources (FTEs) and innovative interventions as needed relation to unexpected absences.
- Interviews for Security Personnel will be conducted in collaboration with Hospital Leadership.
- Responsible for covering hospital Security Personnel breaks and lunchbreaks and assisting Security Personnel with duties when the hospital is exceptionally busy and/or when asked by clinical leadership or security personnel.
- Develops and maintains Emergency Preparedness Plan, policies and procedures in collaboration with the EM sub-committee to comply with current Joint Commission standards.
- Plans and implements required number of disaster drills per year.
- Collaborates with management and leadership teams in the development, education, training, and implementation of Brook Lane relevant EM disaster response plans.
- Responsible for routine checking and/or testing of disaster-related Equipment and supplies (ex: fire extinguishers, AEDs, smoke alarms, etc.).
