Job Description:
Description: The RN Clinical Manager is responsible for the delivery of quality patient care through the leadership of a multidisciplinary team. The Clinical Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating all nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards.
Typical Duties:
- Directs, supervises and evaluates work activities of nursing, technical, clerical, and other employees; prepares and administers departmental performance evaluations.
- Develops and implements organizational policies and procedures for the facility or department.
- Provides regular meetings and other forms of communication with reporting personnel and other affected staff members including daily huddles and/or internal customer rounding to assure awareness of operational and organization-wide issues.
- Ensures the delivery of nursing care to assigned group of patients to include education directed towards identified knowledge deficits, treatment planning, pain management and discharge planning utilizing the nursing process.
- Ensures the delivery of quality nursing care while minimizing the risk of infection, contamination, harm, or injury. Promotes the maintenance of safe and clean working environment ensuring compliance with procedure rules and regulations.
- Coordinates the team providing patient care and education to patients and the public about various health conditions, and provide advice and emotional support to patients and family members.
- Resolves patient problems and needs by using multi-disciplinary team strategies.
- Plans and manages the capital and operational budget, unit environment, and equipment maintenance issues.
- Serves as an expert leader by precepting and mentoring clinical staff and students.
- Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records for operational and clinical needs related to the patient population served.
- Facilitates staff development and adherence to standards of care, individual goal setting and development of the departmental team.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- 5 plus year of experience as a practicing Registered Nurse.
- 2 plus years of supervisory experience.
- Current licensure by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas or proof of reciprocity of licensure between the State of Texas and another state.
- Completion of unit specific competency based orientation program within 90 days.
- Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
- Divisional and unit specialized training.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) training if applicable.
- Certification in area of specialty.
- If supervision of areas providing fetal monitoring, must be competent in training, interpretation, and evaluation of nursing care.
- If supervision of perioperative areas, must have Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
