Qualifications:
1. Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education; or • Obtained an associate’s (or higher) degree; or • Met a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics (or, as appropriate, reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness).
2. Behavioral Technician (RBT) certification a.) Complete a 40-hour training b). Pass a competency assessment c). Pass the RBT Exam d. Abide by the 31-element Ethics Code
3. High moral and ethical standards.
4. Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills.
5. Belief in and respect for the dignity and work of each individual; sincere interest in children and youth.
Reports to: School Principal (Daily Supervision) and Office of Special Services (Clinical Supervision)
General Job Description: Provides behavioral intervention services to identified children within the school setting. Behavior Technicians will support behavioral needs of children school-wide. This may include supporting the implementation of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) based programs as directed by and in accordance with supervision from a designated Board Certified Behavior Analyst (Behavior Interventionist), special services administration, and the school principal. A RBT will assist with reducing students’ disruptive behaviors, nurturing social skills, collecting progress data, and training staff.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Completes a BACB approved Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) course, then obtains and maintains RBT certification.
2. Assists the school principal and Behavior Interventionist in implementing behavioral programming for students identified as needing behavioral intervention through a multi-tiered system of support including students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
3. Participates with relevant staff (teachers, administrators, related service providers) in individualized program planning, as needed.
4. Assists with collecting data related to individual student behavior goals.
5. Participates in RBT in-service programs and presents in-service programs as assigned.
6. Understands and adheres to established policies and procedures.
7. Observes confidentiality and safeguards all student-related information.
8. Reports behavioral incidences to School Principal and Behavior Interventionist.
9. Maintains acceptable attendance status.
10. Demonstrates sound judgment, critical thinking and decision making.
11. Maintains current CPI certification, and physically able to engage in appropriate physical holds with students as needed.
12. Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the School Principal and/or Office of Special Services.
Term of Employment: 185 days per year; 7 hours per day; 35 hours per week; Non-Exempt.
Salary: Fort Mill Instructional Assistant Schedule (S6) plus $1000 supplement per semester (Contingent on active RBT Certification). Placement on the salary schedule is based on a formula considering education and work experience.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the board’s policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
