Overview:

What you will be doing:

The HRBP is a strategic partner to Area Vice Presidents (AVPs) within their designated region who work to achieve organizational objectives by identifying, developing, and implementing HR initiatives that align with overall business goals.  The HRBP is responsible for performing a wide variety of Human Resources activities, including but not limited to strategic alignment with the business, employee relations, benefits, performance management, talent management, onboarding, policy implementation and employment law compliance. 

 

This position sits remotely but is expected to travel at least 50% of the time. Candidate must live within North Carolina.

 

General Overview

  • Partner with designated region and HR department to use continuous improvement methodology to streamline processes, procedures, and initiatives that support the overall function and organization strategy.
  • Promote and implement HR objectives within designated region while continuously collaborating and contributing to HR projects and process improvement initiatives impacting the company.
  • Analyze various HR metrics and trends to develop proactive solutions and insights to business operations.
  • Collaborate with the HR team to develop and implement culture, values and DEI initiatives that supports Morgan Properties' commitment to building a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Recruiting

  • Responsible for partnering with senior leaders on ensuring we have the right talent in the right roles at the right time.
  • Support the region in establishing and executing an effective recruiting strategy (short and long term) and partner with the Talent Acquisition team to ensure the business has qualified candidates. 

Employee Relations

  • Serve as a resource to field team members regarding human resource policies and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and answer general employment, benefit, and payroll questions.
  • Counsel employees relative to transfers, promotions, terminations, and various work items.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues.
  • Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Prepare employee separation documentation and review exit interviews to determine trends behind separations.
  • Oversee HR Generalist and provide necessary guidance regarding unemployment inquiries, representing Morgan at unemployment hearings as necessary. 

Performance Management

  • Provide performance management guidance to managers in areas like regular performance reviews, coaching, counseling, career development, succession planning and corrective action.
  • Lead performance management initiatives including succession planning, workforce planning and leadership development.
  • Coach and consult with managers on matters involving employee performance management to develop management competency in these areas.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Partner with Leave Specialist to navigate complex leave situations to ensure compliance and facilitate a seamless end to end employee experience.
  • Provide oversight to HR Generalist for Worker's Compensation, FMLA and Leave Administration including ensuring complete documentation of injuries and administration of potential claims.
  • Facilitate compensation review upon manager request.

Training & Compliance

  • Identify training needs at assigned locations, interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, safety, and sexual harassment awareness, etc.
  • Work with Area Training Manager to develop programs to address needs identified within the designated region.
  • Attend Manager’s Meetings monthly and/or quarterly to deliver pertinent HR information and teach on the specific needs within each region that identified by Regional Manager or AVP.
  • Coordinate and ensure regulatory compliance of the HR program, including posting required notifications, generating applicable documentation, and maintenance of employee files.

Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business or related field or equivalent experience to PHR/SPHR certification.
  • PHR/SPHR certification is preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience in an HR Generalist role or above and at least 3 years of Retail/multi-site HR experience is preferred.
  • Experience with HRIS, internet sourcing, ATS, and payroll systems (i.e., ADP WorkforceNow, iCIMS) is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required.
  • A valid driver's license as travel is required to all locations within region.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to relate with all levels in the organization
  • Ability to consult, guide and advise managers
  • Effective problem-solving skills and decision making
  • Background in supporting new organizational capabilities and or leadership teams
  • Manages/leads the integration of company-wide programs and initiatives with little direction
  • Exposure and proven track record to the concepts of consulting, conflict management and interpersonal and negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to earn credibility across leadership
  • Demonstrated skills and abilities in the following areas: employee relations, talent acquisition, organizational strategy and training and development.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
