Job description
Major Responsibilities:
Provide reception for any scheduled customer as well as walk in customers / visitors.
1)Greets customers / visitors as they enter the unit. Demonstrates excellent customer service behavior.
2)Assists with registration process.
3)Escorts customers / visitors to appropriate location.
Secretarial Accountabilities.
3)Places patients in assigned computer beds and transfers/discharges patients as appropriate.
4)Prepares chart packs.
1)Obtains paperwork and prepares charts for scheduled patients and add-ons.
2)Calls for registration activation as needed.
6)Maintains a safe, clean environment.
5)Enters patients into ADT Log when they arrive for scheduled procedure.
Responsibility of Maintaining Inventory and Order Supplies.
1)Assists in maintaining all supplies at PAR level by completing weekly inventory sheets.
2)Orders supplies through Lawson. Faxes order sheets to SPD as appropriate.
3)Monitors office supplies and orders as needed.
4)Completes unit checklist.
5)Arranges for copying of forms as needed.
Communication Accountabilities
1)Provides telephone coverage for unit, directing calls to appropriate resources.
2)Delivers / fax reports as needed.
3)Assists with unit flow by notifying environmental services of need for room cleaning.
4)Arranges for a translator as needed.
5)Notifies members of the interdisciplinary team as directed by the RN.
6)Types letters or correspondence as requested.
7)Communicates messages to all staff.
8)Maintains open communication with Charge Nurse.
Education/Experience Required:
H.S. or equivalent 2-4 years secretarial/receptionist experience or Associates degree and 1-2 years secretarial/receptionist experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Typing 40 words per minute, preferred Able to use several software packages Ability to create spreadsheets preferred

Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:
Able to maintain behavioral standards while working in a fast-paced environment with customers who may be experiencing a variety of stresses.
If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
