Job Summary: The job incumbent will serve as a Receptionist for Helping Alaska. Believing in Helping Alaska’s mission and adhering to Helping Alaska’s policies and procedures, the receptionist works alongside our team of staff and volunteers to serve our local community with respect, compassion, and love.
Job Duties:
Under general supervision of the Executive Director, the Receptionist will be responsible for:
- Welcoming on-site guests, determining the nature of business, and announcing guests to appropriate personnel.
- Addressing walk in clients with the assistance needs in a friendly, nonjudgmental, loving attitude following current policy and procedures.
- Answering incoming telephone calls, determining the purpose of callers, and forwarding calls to appropriate personnel or departments.
- Taking and delivering messages or transferring calls to voicemail when appropriate personnel are unavailable.
- Clerical duties include copying and organizing/maintaining files, as well as ensuring the proper handling of all outgoing and incoming mail.
- Ensure that main entry doors are open during our open business hours and closed/locked upon the closing of our business day.
- Answering questions about our organization and providing callers with our address, directions to our agency, and other information requested.
- Support special projects as assigned.
- Provide Administrative support to Love INC Staff and volunteers as assigned.
- Maintain filing system
- Maintain a clean lobby, meeting, offices, restrooms, and kitchen areas to be welcoming and project an atmosphere of being organized, clean, and professional.
- Assist with the production of special letters, gift acknowledgements and other communications to all donors and volunteers as requested.
- Assists with Furniture Bank operations including assisting clients and processing sales.
- Management and organization of storage areas
- Fill out all quick referral forms and food bag request forms
- Fulfill food bag requests and serve soup as requested by clients

Minimum Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or GED
2. Must profess to be a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ
3. Willing to submit a background check
4. Willing to adhere to Helping Alaska policies and procedures
5. Must possess or be willing to obtain, at the organization’s expense, an Alaska Food Handler’s card
Knowledge, Skill and Ability:
- Polished professional with an outgoing attitude
- Be a team player and love to make clients feel welcomed and at home
- High level of proficiency with general office PC applications (i.e., MS Office & Google platform.) and comfort with learning new applications as required.
- Demonstrates excellent organizational, coordinating, and personal interface skills
- Proven job diligence, dedication, and attention to detail
- Familiarity and working knowledge of general office machines (i.e., scanners, copiers, printers, etc.)
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate successfully with the public, other employees, and clients.
Summation: This position has high contact with people, which makes communication and interpersonal skills crucial. Each Navigator must be able to work independently or as a team member. Very strict confidentiality is required.

Salary: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
