Job Overview
A Receiving Clerk signs for deliveries, check delivery content against the shipping invoice, addresses and resolves any problems with shipments, stocks or transfers deliveries accordingly, and works with both customers and distributors to address any shipping and delivery issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Receiving Clerk
- Accepts and signs for deliveries from distributors.
- Assists in unloading shipments from the delivery truck.
- Uses dollies, forklifts, and other moving equipment to transport shipments from the loading dock and around the stockroom.
- Opens boxes and inspects contents of shipments.
- Processes returns for any defective or incorrect items.
- Checks shipping invoices to ensure all items are accounted for.
- Contacts seller or distributor to resolve shipment discrepancies.
- Stores restocks, and shelves delivery items as necessary.
- Ensures that stockroom is clean and organized.
- Processes transfers for shipments moving on to another location.
- Pays balance on invoices upon receipt of delivery.
- Manages and maintains all billing records.
- Maintains records of all received shipments.
- Conducts inventory of products, and logs data into inventory database.
- Contacts distributor to inquire about shipment delays or problems.
- Reports any major or unresolved shipment delays or problems to company manager.
- Addresses and answers department head inquiries about pending orders and shipments.
- Complete all additional tasks given by management.

Qualification, Skills, and Requirements
- Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with distributors
- Basic reading, writing, and math abilities
- Basic Computer knowledge (i.e., being able to operate the computer without supervision)
- Basic to intermediate hospitality vocabulary
Education
High school graduate or equivalent required.
Experience
Two years of experience preferred
Hospitality preferred
Physical Requirements
Sitting, walking, climbing stairs, standing, crouching, bending, stooping, grasping, pushing, pulling, near vision, far vision, hearing, talking, smell, taste, travel, and lifting weights up to and including 40 lbs. may be required.
Safety Requirements
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required when performing work duties that may have the potential of risk to your health or safety. The hotel will provide the required PPE. Team members will be trained in the proper use and care of any assigned PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to your manager.
Grooming
All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance. Specific uniform guidelines and/ or required articles of clothing will be explained to you as part of the orientation process.
Schedule
The work schedule is based on the demands of the business. AM, PM, nights, overnights, weekends, and/or holiday availability are required.
Temporary assignment will be approximately a six week duration.
