Job description
The Real Estate Accountant will play a vital role in managing the financial activities of our family-owned, privately held residential and commercial Real Estate investment portfolio. This position offers the opportunity to work across a variety of tasks, including all areas of accounting, cash flow and Real Estate-specific responsibilities.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage and oversee all accounting functions required to support the individual needs of each unique business unit within the Real Estate investment portfolio.
• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger for approximately 20 entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Execute month-end closing procedures and assist in year-end preparation and closing.
• Prepare monthly financial reports to provide insights into the performance of each property.
• Conduct daily cash reconciliations and reporting to the Controller to ensure accurate cash flow management.
• Assist in the preparation of annual reviews, property budgets, and tax returns.
• Prepare common area maintenance invoices, statements, and analyses of annual charges.
• Record related party and intercompany transactions in coordination with the Real Estate Administration team.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA a plus.
• 3+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in Real Estate accounting or property management.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
• Experience with Real Page a plus.
