Job Description
As the Quality Manager you will:
- Work in conjunction with Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, Sales, and Customer Service to deliver a quality product that exceeds customer requirements and expectations.
- Serve as Quality Administrator for ISO 9001:2015.
- Maintain accurate written product and vendor/operation history records documenting part numbers, lot numbers, quantities, inspection results, inspection dates, and the inspector’s initials and/or stamp.
- Perform complex dimensional and visual first article, in-process, and final inspections per blueprints or other written specifications as well as verbal instructions.
- Review material and process certifications for compliance with contractual requirements.
- Write inspection procedures and inspection reports.
- Determine the gaging required to accurately verify product conformance.
- Support purchasing and production through the formulation of quality plans and requirement reviews.
- Develop all Factory Acceptance Test documentation to customer requirements.
- Set up, program, safely operate, and maintain equipment per debugging and testing.
- Calibrate test measuring equipment per requirements.
- Develop work instructions, procedures, and equipment documentation.
- Measure Manufacturing Rework cost, Customer complaints, and Field Problems to resolution.
- Interview, hire, and train employees for the department.
- Oversees the work assignments of quality inspectors.
- Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations and handle counseling of employees in support of company policies.
- Report monthly metrics and improvement areas to management.
- Hold Quality awareness meetings plant-wide once per month.
- Other duties as requested.
To be successful in the role you must possess:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field strongly preferred
- Must be able to travel for vendor audits or customer needs.
- 7+ years of related Quality Assurance and Manufacturing experience or a combination of education and/or experience.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills and experience.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Understand AWS Certified Welding Inspection (CWI) and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and train employees on procedures is preferred.
- Self-directed with the ability to interact with supervisors, engineers, and customers.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong experience with ISO, AWS, ABS, DNV and safety directive Standards.
- Strong knowledge of all workings of a QMS including FATs, inspection, Document Control, Quality checklist, non-conformance, corrective action documentation & and RMA processes.
- Experience reading blueprints and geometric tolerances.
- Machine shop experience and related equipment, CNC mills and lathes, etc.
- Tool and gauge calibration management experience.
- The ability to work in a non-climate-controlled production facility with moderate noise levels that are within OSHA limits.
- Must be able to lift 25 – 50 lbs.
- Must be able to walk, talk, sit, stand, and communicate verbally continuously throughout 8 hours.
