Job Description
Our client, a leading global designer and manufacturer of X-Ray security inspection systems located in Industry, CA is currently hiring for a Purchasing Clerk to join their team.
You will be responsible for performing duties centered on the material planning/purchasing process as it impacts the manufacturing operations, oversee the maintenance and evaluation of schedules along with processing of purchase orders as it relates to procurement. Schedules the delivery of materials to meet production or customer demand. Communicates with suppliers to ensure product quality, delivery and cost requirements are being met.
Essential Functions:
- Review material requirements to eliminate shortages and improve inventory turnover
- Creating Purchase Orders for inventory or Maintenance Repair Operations (MRO)
- Maintain Purchase Order delivery dates to align with production schedule
- Identify cost reduction opportunities available by employing techniques of price/cost analysis and/or negotiations
- Expedite the shipment of materials from suppliers to meet committed delivery dates
- Alert senior personnel to inconsistencies in supplier responses and delayed commitments
- Initiate inventory reconciliations via cycle count requests
- Support end of the year physical inventory counts
- Review forecasts and sales orders for procurement of custom components and parts
- Investigate and recommend new sources of supply that will provide maximum value by delivering quality goods on time and at a low cost
- Collaborate with Planning, Production, Warehouse, and Engineering to mitigate shortages
Required Education and Experience:
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College in business or related field
- 2+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with Sage a plus
- Experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment a plus
- Inventory management desired
- Knowledge and experience with ERP systems a plus
Pay range: $21-$24/hr
