What You’ll Do:

Ohio Department of Public Safety – Ohio Homeland Security

Report In Location: 2855 W. Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43235

Work Hours: 12:00AM to 12:00AM Rotating Shifts 24/7 - Working days & hours may vary (working hours will include nights, weekends & holidays, based on operational need).

(CURRENTLY HYBRID ELIGIBLE) This position will report into the office 3 days a week and telework 2 days a week. Subject to change.

Under direction of the Public Safety Intelligence manager within Ohio Homeland Security (OHS), collect, analyze & disseminate information &/or intelligence related to cybersecurity threats or attacks of terrorist or criminal nature; Generate & disseminate time-sensitive & emerging cyber threat/trend information &/or intelligence (i.e., strategic, technical, tactical, etc.) to all homeland security partners (i.e., law enforcement agencies; public/private sector partners, etc.); Review & analyze information/data (i.e., raw, primary, secondary) from public & private sources, field organizations &/or agencies (e.g., monitor & evaluate the accuracy & reliability of information & sources; advise & assist agencies with priority intelligence requirements, target & problem areas; recognize trends of terrorist, emergency management or criminal operations; conduct all-source analysis & research to identify, monitor, assess & counter threats, incidents, postings & events posed by foreign cyber actors; respond to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) &/or State Fusion Center during critical incidents/events); Develop plans, policies & procedures for the receipt of locally & federally-generated time-sensitive cybersecurity threat information in order to: asses, gather & report on locally generated information &/or intelligence (i.e., suspicious activity reporting; dark web) based on time-sensitive & emerging

threats/trends.

Independently review & analyze problems related to sophisticated &/or complex terrorism-related activity from other homeland security units & user agency personnel; Develop proper research tools, methods & intelligence request forms to appropriately accommodate intelligence information; Perform or assist with assessments, analysis & security advisory services (e.g., threat; vulnerability; impact & trend); Develop & analyze informational databases, spreadsheets & reports allowing information to be easily exchanged & understood; Prepare intelligence reports, presentations & briefings (e.g., draft & disseminate alerts, bulletins & products; create written reports for OHS programs & projects; serve on committees & prepare speeches); Assist OHS Grants & Policy team to facilitate & implement grant funding objectives (e.g., monitor grant consultants/staff; develop grant products (i.e., assessments & trainings).


Utilize state vehicle to travel to various locations in order to collect, research & analyze intelligence information & other resources to determine patterns, trends & movements of terrorists &/or professional criminals to aid law enforcement agencies with investigations; Coordinate research activities with other departmental units &/or outside agencies; Assist with daily operations and office-related tasks as they pertain to the functionality & operation of the unit; Support DPS cyber-related operations & projects; Respond within the State of Ohio to provide cyber support during special events; Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


36 mos. exp. conducting research & writing reports using operational, mathematical, analytical &/or statistical research techniques.

  • Or completion of undergraduate core program in homeland security, political science, criminal justice, emergency management, public health, international affairs or related field; 12 mos. exp. conducting research & writing reports using operational, mathematical, analytical &/or statistical research techniques.
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT REQUIRED TO REMAIN IN THE CLASSIFICATION AFTER EMPLOYMENT:

If required, must obtain LEADS certification; must renew LEADS certification biannually. Additionally, some positions at Department of Public Safety must be able to obtain & maintain secret level federal security clearance.

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

May require some travel. Working hours will include nights, weekends and holidays, based on operational need.


This position may be filled by lay-off or certification eligibility list if applicable.

Position also requires the ability to obtain and maintain a federal Secret level Security Clearance

Requires valid driver's license to operate state-owned vehicle or must be able to provide own transportation.
