Job Description:
Description: The Public Relations Specialist develops and implements strategic external communications plans to promote initiatives at JPS Health Network. This individual is responsible for writing and pitching stories and ideas to print, broadcast and online news media. A primary function for this role is to manage all social media efforts including, but not limited to, identifying topics and graphics, planning, writing, editing, posting and monitoring JPS Health Network's social media accounts. This position will actively monitor all media platforms and report on new developments. The Public Relations Specialist will work with communications management to determine appropriate messaging for responses to social media inquiries and respond within a pre-determined time period.
Typical Duties:
- Develops, implements and manages social media strategy..
- Writes news releases about research, innovation, education and healthcare at JPS.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with the media and JPS team members.
- Identifies media opportunities, pitches stories, and responds to requests on a tight deadline.
- Partners with JPS Content Team to pursue positive news stories about JPS that can be highlighted on social media platforms and the JPS website.
- Uses analytics to measure the success of social media posts or campaigns and shares analytics.
- Creates and distributes monthly social media analytics.
- Monitors user engagement and suggest strategies for content optimization.
- Tracks media relations activities and provides ongoing status reports.
- Guards JPS' reputation and patient confidentiality throughout all media activities.
- Serves as a first responder on JPS Health Network's emergency communication team.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, Public Relations or relevant field.
- 3+ years of experience in Public Relations, communications or related field.
- Experience managing social media for an organization.
- Healthcare communications or Public Relations experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills are key, and a knowledge of the Dallas-Fort Worth news media is a plus
