Sony Electronics has a fantastic opportunity for a Public Relations Manager to support the marketing communications team for Sony's Television and Sound businesses. This position is based out of our San Diego headquarters location and is responsible for creating and executing all consumer-facing public relations strategy, activities and events for all products within the TV and Sound product categories (TV, Headphones, Speakers, Projectors). This position works closely with the Business and Marketing group to ensure all product PR messaging is aligned with broader marketing and communications objectives. This person also acts as a key interface between the Marketing department, Business unit, Corporate Communications, Events team, Engineering team and Legal.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
PR strategy and media outreach
Plan and execute 360-degree corporate communications product launch plans and activities including strategy, goals, budget and tactics. This includes tracking to the KPI goals and reporting back to key stakeholders.
Manage the PR agency including tracking to budget, briefing on products and priorities and managing all PR activities.
Establish and maintain relationships with top-tier press and influencers in key technology and lifestyle verticals (including travel, gaming, music, etc).
Manage media review and loan programs for all products within TV/Sound categories to secure positive editorial coverage for all products. This includes planning media tours, pre-briefings and experiential activations as well as maintaining product review program post-launch.
Create content for baseline public relations activities including press release writing, speech and presentation development, review guides, FAQs, video production and social media posts
Collaborate cross-category and cross-department and with Corporate Communications to ensure messaging and activities are unified.
Provide strategic counsel to executives and crisis communications guidance and execution, including media training, interview/briefing preparation, etc.
Manage the PR budget, including monthly forecasting and PO creation.
PR Events
Support trade shows (CES, CEDIA, etc.) with media activities, including broadcast interviews, press dinners, press conference speech writing and executive interviews.
Create, coordinate and manage press and/or influencer-specific events to promote product launches, seasonal pitches and promotions.
Partner with Corporate Communications to support Corporate PR events such as roundtables, analyst events, holiday showcases, etc.
BA/BS Degree or equivalent required
Must have 5-7 years of related public relations experience.
Strong written/verbal communications and presentation skills required.
Has ability to multi-task and be detail oriented.
Is innovative, a self-starter and a problem solver.
Has consumer technology PR experience with strong press contacts, particularly with tech media.
Travel requirements: Role may travel up to 50%
Verbiage: The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $87,931.00 to $117,109.00. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
