Job Description
As a Public Relations Manager, you will work collaboratively with other units within the Consumer Communications (C2) Group in Dallas and Los Angeles as well as our clients at Toyota to execute proactive Public Relations projects for vehicle launches, brand partnerships, sponsorships, sustainment activities and other initiatives.
Success for this position is measured by the following:
The individual’s ability to create, plan, direct, and organize Public Relations programs and media events, with the goal of generating a steady stream of positive publicity and outreach for the client within lifestyle, advertising/automotive trades and other types of media. Success measurements include quality and quantity of media coverage, post-campaign analysis, and ability to identifying new and noteworthy media opportunities that position the client in a manner that is conducive to the brand’s objectives.
An ideal candidate will have a strong comprehension and application of PR strategy and execution. They will be an organized, team-oriented idea-generator who has exceptional verbal and written communication skills, a passion for media pitching and idea generation, and can execute against a strategic PR plan.
Roles and Responsibilities include:
- Act as a liaison between Saatchi & Saatchi and Toyota Marketing Communications PR team. Translate brand and key messages into packaged media concepts that solicit relevant media to write about the topic/client, especially in the lifestyle and advertising/automotive trade space.
- Develop ideas to help elevate events and initiatives to make them newsworthy.
- Draft pitch letters, press releases, media alerts, media lists, Q&As, and message points.
- Help amplify integrated media partnerships on client programs and sponsorship.
- Identify strategic opportunities to place client in non-endemic media, such as:, Entertainment, Family, Men’s and Women’s Interest, and Art and Music spaces.
- Projects may include vehicle campaign launches, Toyota Giving, Team Toyota Athletes, Toyota Music, Hiring our Heroes, Toyota women’s programs, Olympics/Paralympics and more.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with the media to build client’s brand reputation by securing media coverage.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The position requires candidates with:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of Public Relations experience.
- Existing relationships with Lifestyle and ad trade media and a strong motivation to develop more.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of the Automotive Industry is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to generate creative ideas on how to make events newsworthy.
- Working knowledge of Public Relations tools such as Cision, TrendKite, MultiVu, Critical Mention, and various key social media platforms.
- Experience in developing KPIs and measuring the value of Public Relations and earned media.
- Ability to work on multiple projects under tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, openly, honestly and with integrity.
- Self-directed and anticipatory.
- Some travel required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations or communications preferred.

Compensation Range: $33.65 - $56.49/hr. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. This role may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met.
