Senior Public Relations Manager

AppFolio seeks a Senior Public Relations Manager to join our communications team, developing and executing a PR strategy that advances and protects the AppFolio brand. You are a master storyteller with excellent writing skills, demonstrated success engaging business media, and a passion for communicating to influence audiences and inspire action. You will be an essential partner to the communications team, go-to-market teams, corporate functions, and executive leadership. This position will report to the Senior Director, Communications, and will be based at our Santa Barbara, CA headquarters.

Reputation Management

• Maintain AppFolio’s positive reputation and sentiment through always-on brand and market intelligence, providing actionable insights for the communications team and senior management.

• Create and execute plans to mitigate risk and manage issues affecting trust and reputation.

Earned Media

• Craft narratives to articulate business strategies and curate editorial news flow and content across channels.

• Manage our day-to-day PR agency relationship, driving strong alignment, execution, and achievement of pre-determined KPIs within the allocated budget.

• Write high-quality PR materials, including pitches, press releases, Q&A/FAQ, contributed articles, and keynote presentations.

• Elevate the voice of our key leaders and innovators via proactive platform development and executive thought leadership.

What We’re Looking For

• Direct experience working with the media, particularly within vertical industry and B2B trades

• Experience working at and/or managing a PR agency

• A strong writing background with a demonstrated ability to develop communications materials that influence and inspire action

• Ability to thrive and multi-task in a fast-paced environment, working proactively with superior attention to detail

• Strong executive presence and ability to hold a “seat at the table” alongside other areas of the business

• Flexible, adaptable, and open

• Current knowledge of digital communications and engagement tools and techniques

• Data-driven and KPI-oriented

• The ideal candidate is local to Santa Barbara, CA as this position is a hybrid role, reporting to the office at least 3 times a week.
