About this Position:
A newly created position, the Public Programs Manager will be instrumental in the development, planning, and execution of compelling public events for Kidspace Children’s Museum, a leading nonprofit cultural institution in Pasadena, CA. We are seeking an imaginative live event producer to help us create the next generation of inclusive music, art, and educational events for families in the Los Angeles region, leveraging our 3.5-acre campus and 200-seat amphitheater, and supporting our exhibitions and seasonal themes.
This is a full-time, exempt position and requires weekend and occasional evening work hours. Kidspace is a hybrid workplace.
Managers at Kidspace are expected to drive results in their assigned areas of responsibility, give thoughtful and relevant feedback in a conscientious and timely manner, and meaningfully contribute to and support the ongoing team-building efforts at the museum.
This position reports directly to the Chief Experience Officer.

Job Responsibilities
- Develops a strategic calendar of cultural events that support our annual themes and mission.
- Identify, develop, and produce original events designed to appeal to existing and new family audiences.
- Plans and produces public events of varying scales including on-site, day-of-show production needs.
- Partners with internal and external stakeholders to deliver experiences that attract diverse audiences and position Kidspace as an innovative and appealing venue for both performers and audiences.
- Develops relationships with external cultural partners to ensure events are authentic, inclusive, and appealing to all.
- Grows Kidspace’s network of diverse performers, artists, and partners.
- Collaborates effectively across teams to ensure programming uplifts museum efforts and goals.
- Actively contributes to our culture of inclusivity, welcome, collaboration, and play.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- 3–5 years of experience developing family programming, including vendor selection and management.
- Bachelor’s degree in performing arts administration, theatre arts management, or equivalent work experience.
- A track record of successful public programming in a museum setting with links to past programs provided with your application.
- Practical fluency in verbal and written Spanish or Mandarin is preferred.
- Connections to an existing network of performers in Los Angeles County is a strong plus.

Compensation & Other Benefits:
This is a full-time, exempt position. The salary for this position is $70,500 per year. There is an array of benefits available, including medical and dental, vision, 403(b), and more.
