Job description

Job Summary Under the direction of the Associate Director for Population Sciences and supervised by the OPH Executive Director, the position has the responsibility to develop, and oversee implementation of this new Office and affiliated processes, research, administrative, and programmatic management. The incumbent will address issues that require in-depth evaluation of variable factors related to office goals and objectives (e.g., programmatic or grant specific requirements or specific evaluation of pilot projects).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and /or equivalent experience / training.
  • Advanced project management skills.
  • Proven experience in establishing new programs, implementing and measuring program progress.
  • Advanced knowledge of organizational or initiative processes, research protocols, and clinical processes and procedures.
  • Previous experience in NIH grants and program management.
  • Previous experience in writing and submitting NIH grant applications.
  • Knowledgeable of the IRB process including approvals and renewals, the process of informed consent and the protection of participant data.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and evaluating research studies and health programs.
  • Ability to learn the facets of cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship including relevant modalities, terminology, medical records, questionnaires, specimen acquisition and retention, radiological representations, care systems at UCDMC and elsewhere, and relevant published and/or presented research.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate clinical and research information, practices, and procedures, formulate logical and objective conclusions, and make recommendations for effective solutions, strategies, and/or approaches.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint); ability to learn how to use relevant data base management systems at UCDMC.
  • Knowledge of data analysis software (e.g. SPSS, SAS, STATA, R).
  • General knowledge of the clinical trial accrual process including protocol requirements, IRB approvals and renewals, the process of informed consenting, and follow-up of patients on protocol.
  • Ability to travel outside of the region to meetings that may extend beyond one day.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Public Health, Master of Public Policy, Master of Public Administration, Master of Clinical Research or like education and/or comparable work experience.
Department Description
MED: Cancer Center
The UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center (UCDCCC) supports multidisciplinary cancer research and care. The UCDCCC Office of Population Health (OPH) facilitates and disseminates impactful research on cancer determinants and outcomes for the UCDCCC catchment population with a focus on health equity to improve cancer prevention, screening, treatment, and survivorship. The Office will build, manage, and sustain an infrastructure to support impactful research for UCDCCC members. The OPH Sr. Program Manager will lead the development of the Office. This includes informing the formulation of goals through research, implementing strategies and procedures, management of resources, and integration of cancer prevention, clinical care and research support. The OPH Sr. Program Manager will also provide support to existing UCDCCC projects that fall within the OPH portfolio.
