Job Summary:
The Project Coordinator coordinates community building programs and projects for the Office and its constituents through outreach initiatives, orientations, and networking opportunities. They serve as the primary hospital contact and administrative support for the BWH Postdoctoral Association (PDA) / Leadership Council (PLC) and may spend significant time in that role.
This position additionally may support broader programmatic activities of the Brigham Research Institute (BRI) and work with other entities involved in serving the research community where appropriate.
The Project Coordinator works closely with the Research Education Program, the Center for Diversity and Inclusion (CDI), research faculty, administrators, and other internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the Project Coordinator for building community and engagement among and across ORC and BRI constituencies.
- Serves in an advisory & administrative support role to the PDA/PLC.
- Aids in setting budgets for events and initiatives.
- Works to carry out the committee mission by supporting communication efforts, career development seminars and panels, networking events, and mentoring circles program.
- Other duties as requested by the ORC Faculty Director and BRI Executive Director.
Strategic Planning & Goals
- Coordinates with the ORC Faculty Director and BRI Executive Director in the development of new programs, courses to be offered to research faculty and trainees, and community and engagement groups where needs are identified based on strategic initiatives identified together. This would include identifying and obtaining necessary resources required for each.
- Manages projects that are of strategic importance to the mission of the BRI and ORC, coordinating with other BRI staff to execute.
- Manages resource needs for projects undertaken, including identification of stakeholders, development of project timelines, breakdown of key milestones, and overall management of project execution.
- Performs research and collaborates with respective colleagues on relevant initiatives.
- Documents and prepares reports on project status and activities to various audiences.
- Engages in special projects targeted at achieving strategic goals at the request of BRI/ORC leadership.
Logistics, Events, Communication
Works closely with the other BRI team members on creating communications (i.e. Constant Contact) and promotional materials (i.e. brochures and flyers) for events, activities and programs of the ORC (including PDA and PLC).
Website, Resources & Data
- Works with BRI web designer to create and maintain an up-to-date listing of resources available to researchers across the BWH, MGB and HMS systems, including departmental initiatives, programs at other affiliate hospitals, and Harvard Catalyst offerings.
- Collaborates with the ORC Grant Editor to publicize and organize grant editing services to offer to the research community.
- Maintains webpages for both ORC and PDA, with assistance from the BRI web designer.
- Work with BRI team to organize data and report on various metrics for ORC activities
Collaborations
- Cultivates effective working relationships with colleagues throughout BWH, MGB and HMS, particularly developing relationships with the Brigham and Women’s Physician Organization, BWH CDI, BWH HR Organizational Effectiveness, Postdoc Associations, and other HMS affiliates with centers and offices dedicated to faculty and trainees.
- Works with hospital departments to identify gaps in career resources and develop comprehensive information about offerings across the hospital/system.
