Job Summary: Provides on-site and continuous coverage for the Community Living program serving adults with disabilities; directs all the activities for program; oversees all program operations; develops and implements program operations; performs other job related duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
1. Provide on-site and continuous coverage for the Community Living program-serving adults
with disabilities;
2. Direct all the activities for Community Living program;
3. Oversee all program operations;
4. Develop and implement program operations;
5. Ensure that all medical appointments are scheduled; ensure that all accidents are properly
reported;
6. Supervise program staff; evaluate, monitor, hire and terminate staff; review and approve
staff time records;
7. Serve as liaison with the day programs, other agencies, individuals, and related services
staff and consultants and family members regarding administrative issues;
8. Promote SJCS to other agencies; educate and increase awareness on SJCS activities;
9. Monitor program budgets; assist with annual budget preparation; perform all monthly
billing; ensure integrity of client funds;
10. Ensure compliance with all funding, regulatory and accrediting agency's standards, as well
as with internal program and personnel policies;
11. Work with referral resources to determine if SJCS is right for new consumers;
12. Attend and participate in all relevant agency events, workshops, training and meetings;
13. Keep abreast by reading periodicals and specialized announcements;
14. Provide coverage when there is a staffing need; and
15. Perform other job-relatedduties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to gain thorough knowledge of St. John's Community Services policies and procedures;
- Ability to act as a representative of St. John's Community Services to the public;
- Ability to provide 24/7 coverage for program;
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of administrative management, and the ability to interpret them to the staff and the public;
- Extensive knowledge of program practices and procedures;
- Knowledge of budget preparation and maintenance;
- Ability to keep the all relevant parties informed of all major issues and programs and to recommend changes as appropriate;
- Ability to supervise, plan, and coordinate the work of diverse staff in order to accomplish departmental goals and objectives;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, subordinates, representatives from other agencies, and the general public;
- Ability to use sound judgment when making decisions;
- Skilled in the operation of relevant computer systems, including hardware and software, and office machines.
Education and Experience:
- B.A. /B.S. degree in Psychology, Social Work, Rehabilitation or related field required; Master's preferred.
- Requires five or more years' experience of direct service with adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities, preferably in a community based residential setting;
- One year supervisory experience required;
- Must meet current SJCS and funding jurisdiction requirements for criminal background/records check.
- Must meet current SJCS and funding jurisdiction requirements for valid health certificate.
- Valid state-issued driver's license with current driving record in good standing required.

Work environment involves risks or discomforts that require special safety precautions e.g. safely operating a motor vehicle, exposure to aggressive human behavior.
