ABOUT THE POSITION
Under the direction of the Chief Deputy Public Defender of the Marin County Public Defender's Office, the Program Coordinator (Community Outreach Liaison) is responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the Clean Slate Program, California Driver's License (CDL) Services, and general Public Defender client focused tasks; ensuring that goals and objectives are met in accordance with established policies, timeframes, and funding limitations; liaising with the public, community groups, and other departments to advocate for clients; and developing information materials for dissemination to the public, including developing and maintaining a social media presence. To reach our target populations, some events will take place outside of regular business hours.
This position is a fixed-term position that is funded for up to one (1) year but may end sooner or be extended depending on position funding.

Our highly qualified candidate will have a strong ability to problem solve and be deeply solution focused. They will be inclined to think outside of the box while also complying with the department's established policies and procedures. They will be able to maintain confidentiality while pursing better client outcomes and have the cultural competence with monolingual Spanish speakers, immigrants, and indigent community members. The highly qualified candidate will be bilingual in English and Spanish.

The equivalent to graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree in a field closely related to the assigned program(s) and two years of experience providing community, educational, rehabilitative or counseling services including responsibility for planning and implementing programs and coordinating with community resources. Additional related experience may substitute for the education on a year for year basis.

Testing and Eligible List: Depending on the number of qualified applications received, the examination may consist of a highly qualified review, application screening, online assessment, written examination, oral examination, performance examination, or any combination to determine which candidates' names will be placed on the eligible list.
The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill the current vacancy and any future vacancies for open, fixed-term, full-time or part-time positions which may occur while the list remains active.
Disaster Service Workers: All County of Marin employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
