THE MISSION VALUE OF A PROGRAM COORDINATOR
To create and deliver Girl Scout Program for assigned troops/groups and serve girls in identified underserved areas of Girl Scouts of West Central Florida Council. This includes serving as a role model and mentor while providing age level appropriate in-school, after-school, and summer program for girls, grades K-12.

The schedule includes working directly with girls Monday through Friday during school and after until 6:00pm and occasional weekends. Program delivery is a combination of in school and after school at multiple sites. Sites are in Tarpon Springs, Safety Harbor, Clearwater, Largo and surrounding Central Pinellas County areas.


Key Responsibilities:


Program Delivery and Facilitation

  • Deliver and facilitate high quality Girl Scout programing daily to multi-level troops in schools and community centers achieving Girl Scout outcomes of strong sense of self, positive values, challenge seeking, healthy relationships and community problem solving.


Coordination of Programs

  • Prepare program materials and supplies to ensure accurate delivery of the Girl Scout Leadership curriculum.
  • Plan and execute programs outside troop meetings, including but not limited to field trips and outdoor camping experiences.
  • Plan and execute annual recognition ceremonies for all Girl Scout Troops.
  • Collect and process membership forms and other important documents.
  • Administer pre- and post-surveys for programs as assigned by GSWCF to measure program quality.
  • Maintain organized and accurate records pertaining to attendance, membership registration, surveys, badges earned, and other data as required.
  • Ensure that all girls and volunteers participating in the programs offered by Girl Scouts of West Central Florida are registered with GSUSA.
  • Track and document program sessions with sign-in sheets, detailed notes, photos and any other deemed appropriate.
  • Provide necessary documentation reporting pertinent incidents and other troop related issues and activities as they arise.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Girl and Family Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with girls and families resulting in regular attendance and investment from families for a sustained Girl Scouts Leadership Experience.
  • Ensure a safe environment for girls.
  • Ensure Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scouts message of pluralism and diversity.
  • Provide follow-up with parents as requested; identify the need for and provide problem solving and conflict resolution when appropriate and in a timely manner.
  • Host in-person and virtual parent meetings to welcome families to Girl Scouts and identify potential adult helpers and volunteers.
  • Create and distribute monthly newsletters to keep families, schools, community centers and stakeholders informed about the plans and needs of the program, encouraging them to participate in troop activities/trips and giving them an understanding of the opportunities Girl Scouting has to offer them and their girls.

Community Relationships

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with schools, parents, community centers and stakeholders.
  • Serve as a liaison with site partners, parents, and educators to increase Girl Scout awareness.
  • Communicate with site partners and parents about the plans and needs of the program, encouraging them to participate in troop activities/trips and giving them an understanding of the opportunities Girl Scouting has to offer them and their girls.
  • Conduct ongoing outreach to recruit new girls and program sites to meet quarterly membership goals.
  • Facilitate or attend lunch talks, parent meetings and community events to recruit and increase brand awareness and girl membership.
  • Represent GSWCF professionally while in schools and in all public venues.


Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience working with youth.
  • This position requires the ability to communicate fluently in English / bilingual preferred Spanish.
  • Ability to work with Girl Scout members with diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to communicate enthusiasm for Girl Scouting with good communication skills via in-person, phone, virtual meetings, and emails.
  • Ability to manage time, work independently, handle multiple priorities and take direction from GSWCF staff.
  • Computer skills – Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and Canva
  • Ability to set and meet goals with self-initiative.
  • Dependable, efficient, enthusiastic, and punctual.
  • Ability to keep accurate records.


ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Become a registered member and maintain membership in GSUSA.
  • Reliable transportation along with documentation of required automobile insurance and safe driving record.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Represent GSWCF in professional Girl Scout attire.
  • Adhere to all GSWCF policies.
  • To successfully perform the essential functions of this role, with or without accommodation, a person must be able to utilize basic office equipment including computers and phones. Interact with others virtually and in-person in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings. Able to lift, carry and display recruitment and program materials to multiple sites.
  • Serving the Girl Scout movement requires that all teammates are flexible and generous with their talents. We move at the speed of the girl and are committed to doing our best on her behalf. This may entail shifts in assignments, priorities and /or schedules.

Hourly rate: $18.00 per hour; $19.00 if able to conduct business in English and Spanish.
