Production Planner
The Production Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating, production activities for the operations in accordance with established guidelines and practices in order to achieve company goals in support of customer satisfaction, quality, on-time delivery and cost control. In this role, you will be based in Skokie.
A day in the life of a Production Planner can look like
- Read work orders, production schedules, reports and other related documents to determine production requirements and evaluate current production capability for on-time performance. Interpret drawings, specifications and shop orders. Develops productions plan and schedule for Operations.
- Effective communication with company departments such as inside sales, purchasing, outside sales, and supply chain, to ensure that all the needed information is on the order ensuring a smooth flow through production.
- Order analysis- accuracy, flow, including inventory assignment. Provide job packet for the production team including but not limited to drawings, BOM, special tooling and process notes.
- Assure that a daily back-order report is reviewed. Assure that customer back-orders are visible and allocations are correct. Release dates are updated and that the backordered items print after invoicing.
- Develop analytical tools and techniques to move the operation forward.
- Bill of Material (BOM) development and accessory allocation to jobs.
- Identify proper remnant stock for jobs and allocate appropriate inventory to job specific orders. This includes slab mapping requirements, quality defect determination.
- Support production team with un-allocation and re-allocation of materials on an as needed basis.
- Provide support for data collection of material scrap both in quantity and in value.
- Control the quality of order processing according to the corporation's ISO based work instructions (FPIP's). Keep records of material inaccuracies defects and errors; assist with corrective actions.
- Conduct special assignments and projects as directed. Assist in departmental functions to support company goals.
- Goals are set and met based upon agreed completion dates
We are looking for you to have
- 3-5 years in planning/scheduling
- 2 or 4 year degree
- APCIS Certification a plus
- Strong computer skills (Excel, e-mail, database).
- AS400/CRM/ERP/MSRP experience a plus
- Must be able to work in the US
