The Role

Product Coordinator Fatty Acids

POSITION SUMMARY

Develop production requirements for all internal domestic manufacture at Chicago facility. Responsible for developing specific production plans to meet the general guidelines provided. Work closely with the Planning Manager and Warehouse Supervisor along with major customers through Customer Service on schedules and stocking levels that will satisfy customer service requirements and ensure effective utilization of plant equipment, materials, and personnel, minimize business inventory investment. Is the key liaison between Customer Service, Manufacturing and Sales/Marketing Team(s).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

· Use business forecasts, current customer service demands, stock policies, inventory reports, and experience to develop production plans for the Chicago site. Continue to improve inventory control to minimize levels while satisfying customers’ requirements. Develop a 7-week detailed schedule that feeds the capacity model for the site.

· Work with production personnel to develop detailed production schedules that will optimize both customer service and production operations. Work with all groups to minimize the impact of any unanticipated deviations. Coordinate manufacture of all Make-to-Order Items and Made-to-stock items. Identify and highlight slow moving inventory to sales and marketing for sale or disposals.

· Monitor and track daily rail movements of approximately 220 incoming finished product railcars so that estimated arrival time can be incorporated into the customer's requested shipment dates and the production schedule. The Coordinator decides as to whether tank trucks should be sent instead if the rail cars may not arrive in time.

· Determine when outside toll flaking and/or drumming is needed and set shipments up with toller. North American for oleic is the key toller. Set up shipments to and from outside tollers as well as to the appropriate warehouses. Coordinate shipments with co-producers when needed.

· Back up for glycerin coordinator. When covering for the Glycerin product Coordinator follow the documentation procedures for the GD2 plant and apply cGMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) so the requirements of FSSC 22000 and 220002 are met and all issues are flagged up for decision and resolution.

· The scope of the business for which this role manages activities are:

- Detailed weekly forecasting for approximately 120 product/customer combinations.

- Coordination/ Planning of 350MM lbs. of product.

- Tracking and monitoring of 220 rail cars.

- Prepare various reports: Variance, Rail Car Turn Time, and Flaker.

- Work with transportation to manage transportation changes.

- Process rail paperwork.

- Plan pass all orders and confirm correct order entry.

The Ideal Candidate

Desired Background

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, planning, or related fields or +10 years of experience in customer service for the chemicals manufacturing industry.

· Strong interpersonal skills are required as you will interact with several functional groups across the Company.

· Due to the hectic nature of the position, you must be able to handle constant changes and upsets to the plan. Most problem solving revolves around recurring scheduling changes and the ramifications that come from production problems affecting shipments.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $37.00 - $41.00 per hour
