Job Description:
The successful Process Engineer candidate will be responsible for the development, design, and execution of a wide range of projects for the Engineering Services department of Elessent Clean Technologies. This team is the technical and execution center for our BELCO®, IsoTherming®, and STRATCO® technologies. We align with the business to support ways to bring value to our customers and the Elessent organization.
This role is designed to be an entryway into learning and understanding our rich technologies. The type of work would initially include performing process design calculations, developing simulations, and creating deliverables such as PFDs, MEBs, P&IDs, equipment datasheets, etc. Depending on the experience level, more complex designs, technology development, unit troubleshooting, and problem-solving would be assigned to the successful candidate.
Assigned projects range from new grassroots designs to revamping existing units. Other projects will include studies, unit optimizations, enhancing our digital offerings, and full unit modeling using dynamic simulators. The Process Engineer will have leadership opportunities as they collaborate with a highly capable team of process design and technical service engineers and other subject matter experts across the organization to provide high-quality deliverables to our customers.
This is a customer-facing position requiring the initiative to accept challenging deadlines and the ability to travel domestically and internationally to attend design meetings and support customers on-site.
The Process Engineer will receive guidance from experienced engineers and technology experts but is also encouraged to develop innovative solutions to further enhance products and services, internal procedures and standards, and Elessent's overall technical competitive advantage.

Qualifications

• Possess a bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering.
• Familiarity with process simulators such as Aspen HYSYS. Special consideration will be given to candidates with other programming skills, such as VBA, Python, or MATLAB.
• Can demonstrate understanding of engineering fundamentals in process design, unit optimization, technical writing, and project execution with the ability to lead and deliver high quality results within a defined schedule.
• Possess strong problem-solving skills and is comfortable finding creative solutions to ambiguous challenges. The ability to think critically, analyze situations, and propose innovative technical ideas will be highly valued.
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a team of engineers and across disciplines. Capable of presenting technical information with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Possess a passion for learning and a personality that thrives in an environment where innovation is celebrated.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
• Able to travel approximately 15% of the time.
• Relocation to the Kansas City area is not required, but special consideration will be given to candidates able to work in-office setting at least 60% of the time.
