On-Site: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis.

The Role

The Senior Process Controls Engineer is responsible for the Program Execution for Machine Controls.  Work will be performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering activity or assembly/plant activity where a considerable amount of creativity and initiative is exercised as well as a high level of independent judgment. 

What You Will Do (Responsibilities)

  • New program implementation/execution (SOR prep, forecasting, controls/robotics design, equipment build/run-off and buyoff)

  • Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of equipment and tools required in plants for the production of high quality parts

  • Manage deliveries to program timing milestones

  • Provide project report outs to senior management

  • Existing program/site support (troubleshooting, etc.)

  • Provide technical direction to less experienced Controls Engineers.

  • Design and troubleshooting of electrical controls systems

  • Work may involve development and testing of advanced process technology

  • Travel as required

Additional Description

Your Skills And Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience as a Controls Engineer

  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical/control systems and the ability to apply these concepts within a manufacturing environment

  • Experience in Allen Bradley PLC and Siemens HMI programming, Ethernet and/or Devicenet networks

  • Ability to design and trouble shoot electrical controls systems

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple challenging projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results

  • Proven ability in project management skills

  • Multiple different manufacturing controls assignments with successful individual achievements

  • Ability to use computer, interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and learn new systems

 What Can Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Demonstrated understanding of plant floor work

  • General knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics is a plus

  • Prior work experience as Controls Engineer in the automotive field

  • Knowledge of GM’s global controls architecture 

This position is not eligible for ISP, ITAP or localizations
