Job Description
Summary
Looking for a candidate that has extensive hands-on experience on new hardware process development, instead of a people who is only good at design and CAD drawing. In addition, this candidate will be managing all equipment in the lab. So some experience on troubleshooting machine and maintenance will be desired as well. The main function of this Process Engineer III is to create disruptive process for AR/VR products. The ideal candidate would have a keen ability to take a rough concept to a working and presentable prototype through hands-on assembly and integration.
Job Responsibilities
- Design equipment, fixtures and tools for new AR/VR optical prototypes
- Integrate the concept prototypes using lamination, spin coating, 3D printers, injection molding, cnc machines and hand tools
- Participate and contribute to the team discussions regarding new concepts
- Deliver on-time the agreed applications.
- Work with cross-functional teams to identify and enable novel materials, processes, and tools in the area of heterogeneous integration for future optical systems
- Sync with the other team members for market trends to identify the necessary technology developments.
Skills
- Knowledge and hands-on experience on lamination, spin coating, 3D Printing, hardware, process and materials
- Strong CAD experience (NX, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Autodesk), design of original parts
- Experience in designing and fabricating tools and fixtures through close-tolerance milling, diamond turning, and wire EDM
- Experience with data analysis and statistics using JMP, Minitab or other data analysis software
- Experience with optical lens metrology and mechanical testing
- Experience with FMEA and tolerance analysis
Education/Experience
- Master degree or higher in mechanical engineering, materials/polymer science, chemical engineering, or a related field.
- 5 years experience on developing prototypes, ideally in the field of printed electronics
Top 3 must-have HARD skills:
Polymer engineering, hands-on experience on new hardware process development, experience on consumer electronics integration or optical lens manufacturing
Master degree or above
Good to have skills:
Plastic film process background
Prescription lens manufacturing
3D printing experience
