POSITION SUMMARY:
Develop, identify, and implement machine settings, systems, and procedures that optimize machine safety, performance, and product quality. Identify & execute projects for continuous improvement. Will coordinate efforts with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality Assurance, & R&D.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
- Identify, document, and maintain machine settings and systems.
- Assist manufacturing & maintenance in equipment troubleshooting and improvements.
- Lead/execute minor continuous improvement projects (equipment design improvements, manufacturing systems, machine documentation & settings).
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works with production to identify and document machine settings and procedures.
- Audits equipment for proper function, performance, and quality.
- Monitors statistical data and makes sound decisions based on the data (SPC).
- Assists in troubleshooting and mechanical repairs for machines and ancillary equipment.
- Initiates machine modifications to improve machine performance, and safety, or reduce quality issues.
- Performs design work as needed.
- Assists production & R&D during machine trials, collects data, makes observations, and reports.
- Performs/initiates machine capability studies by doing trials, collecting data and analyzing data.
- Works with raw material vendors in efforts to improve quality and uptime.
- Demonstrates solid understanding of all manufacturing equipment, their components, function and interaction within the machine.
- Identifies, initiates, and leads continuous improvement projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree with 4 years of related engineering experience.
- Experience using statistics and SPC.
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, Solidworks a plus.
- Experience with high-speed vision systems (line scan cameras and related software for parts inspection) is a plus but not required.
- Strong technical skills in manufacturing, machinery and quality.
- Basic understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, and fluid dynamics (industrial process vacuum).
- The ability to troubleshoot using mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulic and general machine repair skills, and to determine and follow a plan to solve an issue.
- Ability to build accurate project costing and timeliness.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Ability to complete routine reports and communicate effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret documents (e.g., safety, work instructions, OEM manuals, operating /maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, blueprints, etc.)
- Microsoft Word and Excel skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related engineering field (manufacturing, mechanical, industrial, etc.)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to stand for long periods; use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, and/or crouch.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must have close, distance, color, & peripheral vision abilities along with depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Able to work flexible hours during equipment installations or direct support needs.
